“It could have been worse. Just imagine if they were all battery powered cars.”

Coming within a decade if Biden, the Democrats, and the federal bureaucracy’s plans to increase the corporate average fleet requirement to 52 mpg for vehicles produced in the US by 2026. The rules allow sales of electric vehicles to provide the manufacturers credits toward this mandate. Hence by 2026 many new car consumers will be forced to buy electric vehicles because manufacturers will be forced by the standard to sell a certain % of electric vehicles to meet the standard.

Manufacturers will make fewer fossil fuel powered vehicles than the market desires, and price them higher as a result of demand exceeding supply. Some of the higher prices on fossil fueled vehicles will translate into rebates and other incentives to move the electric vehicles consumers don’t want. This arbitrary government CAFE mandate will make fossil fuel powered used vehicles more valuable and essentially force buyers of new fossil fueled vehicles to subsidize purchases of electric vehicles.

Many leftists want sales of fossil fueled vehicles ended by 2030, even though there is no plan in place to upgrade the electrical grid, install charging stations, and provide sufficient power generation to support an all electric fleet. In the years after 2026 we will likely see many traffic shutdowns in the cold urban northern regions where stalled electric vehicles prevent movement of traffic and people in their homes are freezing because the power supply is insufficient to meet peak electric demand during a cold wave plus the high power demands to recharge a rapidly growing electric vehicle fleet.

Will government be blamed? No the media and politicians will claim the evil power companies have failed and demand more government intervention in the energy business. Expect electric brownouts and blackouts to be a common feature of life in the US in coming years. Just like every third world country.

Some/a lot may have been bots.

And when it comes to AI, GIGO still applies.

Take heart, all stranded EV drivers on I-95. Virginia’s Governor Ralph Northam is dispatching his elite convoy of brand new EV tow trucks; sure to arrive momentarily. After your 10 hour recharge, it’ll be happy motoring, and remember: Think Green!

“Why isn’t Mayor Pete getting flogged for letting all that white snow cover the beautiful black highway?”

I suspect Mother Nature is racist.

Republicans cause global warming which leads to snow storms. Or something.

Well, they are trying to blame the Youngkin voter. If only more caring liberals were in power, this situation would never have happened. /s

Youngkin needs to come out and make a statement - make it humorous and light.
