Russia is only “more free” than the USA if it’s because they free your spirit from your body by shanking you or shooting you on Putin’s birthday for some random non-criminal offense.
I was reading a book just recently that showed how closely the “former” KGB and FSB monitor and control Russian media. In fact, they have a nice little system where the media is all divvied up between the various criminals and interests, with the FSB working straight out of media offices and reporting everything that is done.
Then there’s the economy and the entire governmental system: dominated, again, by the KGB-FSB and their flunkies, committing massive financial crime in a very casual way.
Russia is a shithole for a reason. All they’ve got is the natural gas going for them.

Well, I do agree that if I wanted to use my employment in the media as a cover for trying to take down the government and cover up a rigged election, I’d be much better off in the US than Russia.
On the other hand, if I simply wanted to accurately report the news, Russia would be better, since the US media would DEMAND that I follow their (anti-US, anti-conservative) party line, or lose my job.
Russia has millions of great people, plus natural resources, plus technology, plus military strength, plus land.
I think it’s clear that Putin cares a lot more about Russia and Russians than Biden cares about America and Americans.

I do. I watch Russian vloggers literally everyday on YouTube.
Russia is absolutely as free as the US and, freer, in many ways. I've seen protests in Russia. I've seen YouTubers and groups like I3Peak rip the government in videos.
Synagogues, mosques, Christian protestant churches all exist in Russia.
Russians live their lives like most in red state America.
But, if read posts like yours, you'd think Russia was North Korea, Cuba or Iran. It's not. People in those countries aren't even free to access the internet freely, let along post videos on YouTube.
You hatred and ignorance of Russia is an embarrassment and it and our constant aggression toward Russia is posing an unnecessary national security risk.
And these media outlets are called CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Post, the NY Times

On another forum a guy from Germany said if they want house guests they have to let them in through the back door and keep the drapes drawn lest they be accused of spreading disease. He said it is worse now than it was under the GDR.
