CatOwner, thanks to you and other Freepers I have made my move and installed an SSD booting to Ubuntu to make the transition from Windows 10 to Linux.
The desktop installs are MUCH friendlier than last time I tried this, and the searched web pages for help on simple but new tasks worked great.
I will miss WordPerfect, and I will still have to use Windows for my FileMaker Pro work.
In the new Linux install, I will use no Google anything (including YouTube or Maps). The boot is at the BIOS/UEFI level, so Windows doesn’t even see the non-NTFS partition. I am using USB sticks to move .pst files, etc.
My PC is NOT slow, but it is definitely faster running Linux than Windows (despite Windows still having the faster M.2 NVME SSD). NO driver issues (though I have not tried the sheet-fed scanner yet.
Thanks for encouraging me.
Congrats. Any move to Linux is never perfect, but if you value your privacy and Internet security, it may well be worth the move.
