I’ve heard some good things about going beyond 2g. Like third eye awakening stuff. I’mma stick at 2g thrice daily for a while. Being a long time smoker I think I’m removing some histamines at the 2g dose that wasn’t happening at lower doses. My smokers cough was all but gone, but has picked back up a bit with the higher doses. Otherwise I have zero acute pain anywhere. That’s a big deal for me. I also had some injuries that healed up overnight.
Also, zits on chest and back that I’ve never had before even as a teen. Stuff is coming out. And my face is carrying a rosy color a few hours after niacin dose. So youthful.
I’m in a quandary about how much to escalate this. Right now I can’t even fathom taking 2g of Niacin once, let alone 3x in a day. Hovering around and below 1g is hard enough. On one hand, sipping works better than swallowing capsules, as far as minimizing flushing. On the other hand, drinking niacin with water requires a LOT of water, and even then, I feel the unpleasant acid burp hours later. Last night it was even there when I went to bed, so I had to elevate the pillow considerably. I find I can only do about 500 mg in a 12 oz glass of water, so 2g would require 4 glasses of water - and how long would that take to drink? Yikes!
And the “third eye awakening stuff” sounds like new-age hooey mumbo jumbo, to me.
I had wanted to do this for general health. And to prevent the Coof, so I never have to take drugs, even ones that are disputedly safe and effective.... but will my dosing do that? IDK.
Frankly after 3 weeks, I can’t say as this has made any difference to how I feel. But then, I didn’t have any pains, aches or chronic anything going in, my joints don’t pop or crack, and are still as flexible as when I was 20, so I don’t really know what there would be for me to measure against. (My mental acuity? Bwahahaha! Highly subjective, anyway...)
Speaking of 17, strings, I’m beginning to feel like 17 again. I don’t think it’s just the niacin. I’ve been doing lots of others to make me better (hot yoga, essential oils, self-improvement experiences with the likes of Tony Robbins and Jack Canfield, acupuncture, even the inversion machine has helped).
The niacin has been the icing — and sprinkles and Roman candles — on the cake.

What do you do with essential oils? I just have some peppermint, spearmint and cinnamon oils that I put in my homemade toothpaste.
I just took my second 1500N dose for the day, hoping to do a third later. NO flushing.
I did 60P this morning. No booster for the afternoon dose.
What DON'T I do with essential oils! I probably have about 100 different oils and blends, all from Young Living. I use lavender to go to sleep at night. Frankincense for feel-good and mole removal. Oregano for skin tags. Bergamot another feel-good. I'm currently using a combination of grapefruit, a citrus blend, and ledum for a petrochemical detox. My favorite blends are Valor (for courage), Gratitude, Abundance, and Joy. The Believe blend is also good.
The other three living in my house (the Mrs, her mom, and her disabled brother) have used Thieves and Purification for getting rid of toenail fungus. MIL uses Panaway to quell her TMJ pain.
A good friend got rid of cysts in her breasts with frankincense. Another friend used frankincense and other oils as part of program to get rid of breast cancer without surgery, radiation, or chemo -- she just announced she's cancer-free.
Joy and Goldenrod give a sexual boost. I also use a prostate-oriented oil blend to help me pee better, but the niacin may remove enough inflammation to take care of that.
I use the YL collection of non-toxic essential-oil based cleaning products, including toothpaste (with peppermint, spearmint, cinnamon, clove, and citrus), shampoo (with copaiba), household cleaner, and laundry detergent.
I also had an amazing essential oil experience with my late mother. Three or four years before she passed she had a stroke so we had to move Mom and Dad from their 36-acre hobby farm in northern British Columbia to a care home in Vancouver. This was the last thing she wanted to do. She had her life planned out so she could die in her sleep, but the stroke happened, leaving her partially paralyzed and with mental difficulties. I think part of the problem at the home was that she was so unhappy about her situation that she basically shut down mentally. After my dad died in June, I decided to try out a collection of oils for Emotional Release on Mom. As I applied the sequence of oils and recited the associated affirmations, she opened up and became conversational for the first time in months and months. We were able to share happy memories of life with Dad, with her smiling and laughing.
I don't know for a fact that it was the oils, but that's a whole other set of experiments I need to do.
I think where you are right now is fine. You weren’t a volcano of inflammation like most folks are to start with. You were probably just a little melatonin deprived. You have that under control now and running like a top.
In fact I would invite you to try the 66.7:1 ratio of niacin to melatonin. I can’t recall off the top of my head but there’s something special about the ratio. Anyway, a lot of people doing the protocol for a while tried it with no flush at 15M/1000N taken together. My takeaway is you can easily make a couple of pills or buy the store B3 already in caps and be on your merry way with a daily dose. That’s where I’m headed in about another week or so.
And the third eye awakening stuff is more about removing inflammation from the brain I believe. Understand what most people have done to themselves over a lifetime plus environmental toxicity. We folks that are concerned about taking care of ourselves don’t have all that inflammation that the American diet and sedentary lifestyle brings. To most this Protocol can certainly be an awakening. Imagine not even knowing you were living in a brain fog then suddenly it’s lifted. It’s like your whole life was like looking through blurry lenses.

So I actually was curious enough, and tried it, expecting to flush like a tomato because of the much lower melly - 10M and 670N, since I had taken an earlier dose of 150m and 500N. To my shock and amazement, I had one of the mildest tingles ever, just barely perceptible!
How can this be? It makes no sense to me, but I have to believe what I experienced. Was it the lukewarm water? The taking of both simultaneously? Were we all taking way too much melly before, or am I finally becoming replenished? Or am I getting more used to higher niacin doses? Or a little of each?
Anyway, this is so bizarre to me, but in a good way. I’m still experiencing annoying acid burps, though... lol. There always has to be something!
Mostly a combination of skin application and inhalation. Typically I’ll apply to my palms, rub my palms together, maybe apply the oiled palms to my face or neck, and then inhale from my hands.
Using a room diffuser is a typical way to use oils, but Mrs. AZL isn’t on-board yet. Because of chemical sensitivities we both had, we lived practically scent-free for decades. It’s hard for her to get used to the idea that some scents are actually good for you.
The 30-day petrochemical detox is a little different. The theory is that a lot of fat is the body’s attempt to encapsulate nasty petrochemicals to keep them away from the rest of the body. You apply the citrus+ledum to the fatty parts of the body, and you take a capsule with grapefruit oil. Supposedly the grapefruit captures the toxins that are released so they can be removed from the body. One woman wanted to see if it really worked, so she did it on one thigh and not the other. By the end of 30 days, that thigh had been reduced by 3 inches while the other stayed the same. I’ve tried it a couple of times before but it didn’t seem to do anything. I conjecture that it was because of the anti-depressant I was taking. I dropped the anti-depressant in favor of EOs that are supposed to counteract depression, with no ill effects, and now the petrochemical detox (or the niacin) seems to be shrinking my love handles. We’ll see where it goes and whether it holds.
I’ve never been big on pharmaceuticals but as of now, I don’t take any at all, except an occasional ibuprofen if I overwork a muscle. I may try to substitute CBD for that.
When I decided to drop the anti-depressant, I looked up the side-effects. No doctor ever mentioned that prostate enlargement could be a side-effect and I never thought to look it up myself. I think I had prostate restriction about the same ten years I was on the anti-depressant!
That is great to hear. You may have found your daily forever dose. Also, stachios, tart cherry or cranberries might eliminate that tiny tingle you experienced. I moving up to 3g thrice per day to see what happens. I am an experiment of ONE.
Now, whatever shall I do with all the melatonin powder that I ordered last month, and is finally going to arrive next week? LOL
Maybe I’ll put all of our cats on it.... =^.^=
I’m going to make capsules with the 66.7 ratio with what I have for daily maintenance.
I wonder if that would work as well as mixing them in lukewarm water?
I also wonder if the 66.7 ratio is good for animals? Sure would be more convenient to give it all at once, instead of administering (and sometimes forgetting) that last bite of cat food with the niacin 1/2 hour afterward...
I hit a rebar-reinforced brick wall at 1500N. I did 1500 twice yesterday, early enough to make it possible to take a third dose. When it was time to take the third dose, I was feeling a little off, so I decided against it.
At night, after I went to sleep, I woke up with a strong feeling of vertigo and some nausea. By morning, the vertigo and nausea were even worse, and I spent quite a while on the toilet clearing out my bowels. Not quite diarrhea, but loose stools in a remarkable quantity.
Still nauseous, I said to myself, “There’s an oil for that.” I got out the Digize, which is said to be good for intestinal trouble. You rub it on your belly and it fixes what ails you. I’ve never liked the smell of that particular blend, but I decided now was the time to try it.
I rubbed it on my belly and took a deep aromatherapy breath from my hands. I immediately threw up. It was the easiest and most satisfying vomit experience I have every had, partly because I hadn’t had any food for 12 hours. I went for a nap on the sunny side of the house, and woke up refreshed, feeling good (though not at the level of pure transcendental bliss), and still pretty weak.
This event made me think of an ayahuasca experience (which I have never had). South Americans grind up plants with psychoactive chemicals in them and make a concentrated tea. It makes you throw up, gives you visions, and changes your view of life. At least I got the first part right.
My theory of what happened: the successive doses of 1500N killed many of my intestinal bacteria, releasing a torrent of toxins into my body. My body got rid of them in the usual ways.
I’m taking a day off from Niatonin. Depending on how I feel, I will resume tomorrow at maybe 1250N. Acupuncture at 1 pm.
I’ve been on pistachios for a week now, so it’s not a high melatonin issue, unless I need to cut back on my 60P. The candida die-off theory makes my idea more specific. If I got rid of my candida, that’s a huge bonus. I’ve avoided bread, beer, cheese for 40 years because I’m sensitive to yeast and molds. My body will be happy that it’s got rid of its internal source.
Who am I to hold back science! When I reach 2000N, I may change my handle to Snuffles the Dog.
Whoa, boy, maybe some of these posts have to be prefaced with a (literal) Barf Alert, for the sake of emetophobes. I had the misfortune of reading that last one while eating supper last night. :( To say it gave me “visions” put it mildly... I’ve been fortunate in life that Mr 17srings has not puked since I’ve known him, and neither have I. But the childhood traumas come back in a hurry. LOL Anyway, that would be enough to make me swear off Niatonin, but that’s just me... I guess.
I’ve had some loose stools lately, but hardly worth mention other than as a data point, since they haven’t come with any discomfort or urgency. They’re solidifying again, now that I’ve lowered the M dose.
I did get more tingles and slightly pinkish face from doing the “66.7 ratio” again last night. Only did 500N, because I had work to get done.
What’s the best source people find for this tart cherry juice concentrate? I see it on Amazon, 32 oz for $29.99. That’s some pricey juice!
