It seems not (after looking it up) - the doctors said it was a stroke with “large bleeding”. They are now talking “days, weeks, months” for rehab - which he’d never want and, I doubt, would ever really recover from to a livable state.
It’s too early to give up. The rehab will frustrate and anger him, but be patient and understanding. People can come a long way back with time and effort.
I have been told that after a stroke, the undamaged parts of the brain can pick up the functions that got lost by the stroke. That is what rehabilitation will work on.

My mom got to the point where she would have to use a bedpan and at that point she told us she was checking out. She passed 3 hours later.
If we behave we will see them again!
