I had no idea there are thousands of US civilians in Kabul. Can anyone here confirm that’s possible?

Kabul is a major city of four million or so.

There would be thousands of American civilians in most any foreign city that size doing business of various kinds, visiting relatives, etc.

Then there are contractors to the military and civilian consultants to the Afghani government and businesses.

Estimates of ten thousand American civilians sound reasonable.
