Nothing was “lost”. The headline is garbage.

There was a conscious decision made to provide the control group with vaccines once safety and efficacy was established. Considering this is for a vaccine which cuts risk of death from COVID-19 by over 99%, and given that the necessary data had already been compiled as part of the Phase 3 clinical trials, it was deemed unethical to sit back and watch people of the control group continue to get sick and die unnecessarily.

All necessary data had been collected already. The choices were to sit by and watch members of the control group die one by one needlessly, or vaccinate them. All members of the control group WANTED to be vaccinated; they were blind to the fact that they had received placebo. The claims in the article are nonsense and the implicit demand that we sit back and watch people die as part of a scientific experiment where the data no longer even has any value is absurd.

The author is effectively advocating manslaughter.
