How Trump got a Bush to bend the knee
msn.com ^ | 5/27/21 | Marc Caputo

No Republican political family has been as tormented by Donald Trump as the Bush dynasty.

Now Trump has one more opportunity to twist the knife, as George P. Bush — the last remaining Bush in public office — prepares to launch a primary challenge Wednesday against Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton.

In what’s expected to be a brutal contest pitting the Bush family scion against a scandal-plagued incumbent, Trump’s endorsement will go a long way toward determining the winner. The former president remains popular with the Texas Republican base — so popular that Bush, Jeb Bush’s son and currently the state’s land commissioner, has studiously avoided his family’s entanglements with Trump.

“It’s going to be the Holy War of Texas. We haven’t seen a battle like this since the siege at the Alamo,” said Jeff Roe, a Republican strategist and top adviser to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign in 2016.

“George P. is both the heir and protector of a historic Texas political dynasty, but this is a race against a two-term incumbent attorney general,” Roe said. “A line in the sand will be drawn, and people will have to choose sides. Everyone always thought George P. would carry the family banner into the next generation, but I’m not sure anyone anticipated it happening like this.”

—> If he endorses George P Bush over Paxton, a loyalist, I am done with Trump completely.

If he endorses George P, he has a reason.

That said, I will never vote for another Bush of any kind in any generation.

I will vote for Donaldus Maximus Trump.

Nor will I. The older Bush screwed us with NAFTA. He negotiated it. Clinton signed it into law. Bush, GW let Mex trucks go all over USA.

It’s moot anyway, because Paxton is a good guy.

When MSN rushes to defend the Bush Family, you know which side of the fence they stand on.

So Trump called him on his cell phone. Not quite an endorsement. Let’s hold our fire here.

Trump’s Kryptonite is that, for whatever reason, he is a HORRIBLE judge of character.

He's a horrible judge of character because he mostly cares about how much a person kisses his ass and pledges loyalty to him. That's really all that matters. Then when that person under-performs or betrays Trump in some way they become persona non grata.

I really don't get the Trump worship amongst many on this board.

Then I guess you have not been paying attention to politics for the past 50 years or so. Since you are here in Freeperland, you must be interested in politics. That mean that you are either a liar or you are Troll from Democrats Underground et al. I believe the latter and you are here just to sew discontent and misinformation.

Go away. You are not needed here.

IMHO, it’s not so much that people worship Trump. It’s just that it’s incredibly refreshing to encounter a politician who actually loves this country. And who is not afraid to speak out and not cave to the PC mob.

I will not go away. The GOP needs voices from many different perspectives. Not sorry if that offends your delicate sensibilities.

Did I like some of Trump’s policies? Yes. Do I think the guy has some incredible character flaws that preclude him from being a Reagan-like figure? Yes. Just because I don’t agree with everything he espouses doesn’t make me the enemy.

Some people hang on his every word as if he was the second coming of Christ. That’s a pretty dumb thing to do, IMO.

Paper tigers. Create something that was not said and attack with all you have. Straight up B*ll Sh*t.

Does President Trump have faults? yes, we all do.

Do I like him for standing up and fighting fire with fire? Yes I really do.

People thought they could attack President trump at whenever they wanted because thy always go away with it in the past.
President Trump was/is a very good and hard counter puncher. He did not go out of his way to start a fight but you sure would know that you have been in one if you attacked him.

He isn’t as conservative as I would like but I did like almost everything he go accomplished, all the while battling Democrats, China, N Korea, Russia, Middle East, the Media, and RINO’s across the country.

So while he is getting a lot of really great stuff accomplished we have supposed conservatives whining about his nasty tweet, He is mean and not presidential. I for one have had a belly full of these slick silver tongues two faced pukes in politics. We needed and still need people like President Trump.

We do need different voices with different perspectives ON POLICY ISSUES. So go back into your cave and whine and cry that Trump is mean and not presidential like Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama, etc.

Talk about slick silver tongues. You’re putting words into my mouth and inventing an argument where there is none.

Enjoy your perpetual anger while you roam the political wilderness. I’m done with this conversation.

Sick. The entire Kennedy family used the ST. Lawrence River plus Lake Champlain to get their booze into USA.
