lol. They say Octavian/Augustus was never the same after that. He kind of had a mental breakdown. His family life didn’t help much either. Octavian is a bit of an enigma. Had a reputation as a coward and sickly young man, but spent 20 years successfully fending off Marc Antony and the remnants of the Republic. And then solidifying the empire while maintaining the facade of still being a republic. I have not been able to judge him myself. But there is no doubt he was a capable and strong leader and administrator.
I found his portrayal in the HBO series Rome to be both unexpected & interesting. Comments?
