One thing about this killing: If the guy didn’t have a gun, something tells me that he would have simply ripped the family to pieces. While the gun made it quicker (and likely less suffering for the family), it was not needed here.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the start of the Rawandan genocide, Instapundit had a link to a BBC piece about it.
To my surprise, the slaughter only lasted about 3 months, and as we know those people had few if any guns, they did the killing with machetes mostly. In that short period of time about 800,000 people were hacked to death.
Of course conflict and war continued for years, perhaps still going on, that wasn’t clear. But there certainly haven’t been that many people killed since, even with soldiers shooting at each other.
So really, very creepy.
May the innocent dead, including these recent victims, rest in peace.
