I’m driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler sport. Going on 200K miles. $15K new. I’m freaking floored at the pricing.

we are about to retire. The wife drives a 2013 buick, will be payed for in two months. My truck is a 1997 ranger, two wheel drive. No payment on mine. i pay $64 bucks a year for registration, 27 mpg highway. No reason to change it is cheaper than dirt, just like me!!

If you can find a used Toyota 4Runner which has been cared for, say circa 96-99 take a hard look at it. Lots of people use them in places like Alaska etc. And well maintained 4Runners have been known to go 300k+ before doing any serious work to it. My 97 has 127k on it and looks/runs like new. I use full synthetic oil and change it every year, even if the vehicle only drives 1000 miles, it gets changed.

I drive my 98 TJ, bought new. 145K miles. Pay no attention to the guy that offered you $5,000. Here out west an unmolested TJ will sell for $10K.

Buying new is fine if you’re going to keep it. Also, used truck prices are crazy, prices within a few thousand of buying new.
