What’s the point of it anyway? To honor the publisher’s display requests, individually? This seems tediously hard to maintain.

It’s been a long time since my University days and I know copyright laws can change, but back in the day fair use and citation clauses permitted you to excerpt small portions of any work, as long as you cited the author/source.

Media cite published articles all the time to discuss them as topics. I know that doesn’t mean FR wouldn’t be targeted for political motives, but why can’t the poster choose which portions to excerpt?

that's a fact. even harder when mergers\aquisitions happen...but...

FR got sued (a couple of times I think)...big deal at the time...and this was the result...
