I’m so conservative that it scares the horses and the children. I’ve fought the good fight for decades against not only the Democrats but against the amoral Rockefeller Republican wing of our party and against others who have no real values except their own enrichment. But, in recent times, I think that there are more and more people on this site who aren’t really conservatives. They are just nuts.

I voted for Donald Trump twice. But, if we are going to succeed in the future, we need to rally around eternal, conservative principles, not a blind devotion to one man. We need to put conservative principles before blindly groveling before every word of one man. Trump did some great things. I’m thankful for them. But conservative values are bigger than one man, and we shouldn’t let our personal heroes be bigger than the values that we hoped that they stood for. Trump did some great things, but like all men he had feet of clay. I don’t worship Trump. I worship God. Just because someone doesn’t wait with bated breath for every utterance from Trump doesn’t mean that they are a Deep State liberal.

Many hard right conservatives strongly supported Trump even though they had issues with his character. Many of these will now willingly follow a different leader who shares their conservative values. Trump isn’t the Second Coming. The fight for eternal values will go on and will transcend his time in office. Use wisdom. Fight on, but fight for eternal truths, not just the passing personality of the day.

Do you believe Mike Pence was selected for GOP House leadership because he is a “good Christian”? Is that what beltway lizards like Hastert and Boehner prioritize? Obviously, not. Instead, what they wanted was Pence’s pious veneer to camouflage their true agenda while the GOP fully funded Planned parenthood, etc. Pence happily played along for personal gain.

The questionable character here is in fact Mike Pence and not Trump. Conservativism had not advanced since Reagan before Trump precisely because so many GOP voters have been duped by the GOP and phonies like Mike Pence. Trump has shown us that truth and sadly many still don’t want to believe their lying eyes. And that is why the GOP will never reform in a conservative manner. Why should they? Millions of GOP voters just like you are going to vote for them regardless.
