My vote is for the 1911, but that is just me.

I expected to see the Garand in there, but I suppose it’s lifespan was shortened by the introduction of the M-14.

M1903 Springfield isn’t used today but it was in service for 60 years.

Colt M1911 .45 pistol, which was used by the U.S. military from the 1911 until 1986: 75 years.

The Browning M1919 Machine Gun, still very much in use today: 102 years.

M2 .50 caliber machine gun. Ma Deuce. Introduced in 1933, the M2 is an old workhorse that isn’t going out to pasture anytime soon: 88 years

M60 was introduced in 1957, it was perhaps the best Cold War era general-purpose machine gun: 64 years

Figured the M-60 would be there, it’s been around for a long time and served it’s country well. I’ve smoked allot of M-60 barrels in a short amount of time.

1. M249 SAW is the Squad AUTOMATIC Weapon, not ASSAULT Weapon.

2. The most prolific user of the 1911 pistol in today’s US military is the Marine Corps, which issues it to its Force Recon and Raider units as the M45.

3. The M60 was nowhere near the best GPMG of the Cold War. The FN-MAG was far better and in fact, it replaced the M60 as the M240 in US nomenclature.

Incidentally, the receiver and action of the M240 is basically a modified version of the Browning used on the M1919.
