Until the 1960s the military would tell expectant mothers to return home to give birth to preserve natural born citizen status. It only matters for President. (and it matters ALOT as we found out)I wonder why McCain's mother didn't head back to the CONUS to give birth to him?

My guess is she was planning to have him in the Canal Zone (which was US soil at the time) and circumstances intervened and he was delivered in Colon, Panama.
