People fear death way more because they don’t find a reason to hope for the future of heaven. They become comfortable with life and become all the more ready to throw away the spiritual gifts and virtues which were the foundations on which they built that “wealthy” life.

Well said. The technocrats are aiming at creating the greatest good for the greatest number, but each individual only cares about the greatest good for himself and those nearest and dearest.

Meanwhile the politicians fear any "solution" that might lose them votes, so the technocrats are hemmed in by political cowardice and we end up with the greatest bad for the greatest number.
