Has America ever won a war before in its entire history and had nothing to show for it before Iraq?

I was a lousy history student, among many other things.
Bit I suppose one could easily point to the kum chum dung fung family and their sixty or seventy year reign of idiocy.
What did we take away from that "conflict," other than a hell of a lot of long-suffering overlooked warrior-heroes?
And dead soldiers, of course. The Cheney ilk always make sure of that, even if the killed and maimed are our own.
