The way our political system is set up, there is a strong bias for having only 2 major political parties.

I need to review the history of the Whig Party. The Whig Party dissolved and was replaced as a major party by the Republicans. The Republican party was never a 3rd party as such, instead, it became a 2nd major party as the Whigs went away.

I wonder if that could happen today, that a new party could start now, and be a truly competitive 2nd party by the 2024 election cycle.
