Is Turkey a new haven for former fighters of the Islamic State? In Ankara, Istanbul or Kirsehir, the country’s main cities, hundreds of veterans of the Daesh or former Free Syrian Army (FSA), which became the Syrian National Army (SNA), whose ranks are filled with jihadists and which is notoriously under Turkish control, have been living for several years.

Most of the Yazidi slaves still in Turkey are held by former Islamic State fighters who have joined the ANS, which is said to be completely subservient to Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s central power. During Thursday’s White House press briefing, Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre opened the door to more lockdowns due to the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic if “experts” make the case for a return to such pre-vaccine restrictions.
Well, now a leak from the CDC (via NYT) of a unvetted reported that may have driven the latest flip flop calls the ‘delta’ variant “is more transmissible than the viruses that cause MERS, SARS, Ebola, the common cold, the seasonal flu and smallpox, and it is as contagious as chickenpox,”. The WaPo got its hands on it as well, reporting “The delta variant of the coronavirus appears to cause more severe illness than earlier variants and spreads as easily as chickenpox, according to an internal federal health document that argues officials must “acknowledge the war has changed.””
OBSERVATION - This fear campaign is following a track similar to last year. A major difference it that the scare campaign is being used to intimidate the untaxed to become vaxxed. The narrative is “pandemic of the unvaccinated,”. Now with biden even considering another lockdown beyond pushing masks again I’d watch market and economic reactions. As you will see from the Japan graphic linked below, the death rate has not been significantly increased. That is why all the emphasis has been placed on the infection rate.
The US Capitol Police was instructed to arrest anyone, visitors or staff, who refuse to comply with the new mask mandate on the House floor, instituted by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Reportedly, representatives and their aides will not be arrested, but fined $500. This is not leniency from Pelosi, but from the Constitution, which states that The members of Congress are primarily “privileged from Arrest” in the Capitol. Numerous House republicans essentially told pelosi to take a hike. Later in the day the USCP issued a statement backing down on the threat of arrest right about the time Congress passed $71 million in new funding for the force.
Japan is extending a state of emergency in Tokyo and expanding it to new regions as the Olympic Games host faces a surge in Covid-19 cases. The restrictions are being imposed in areas surrounding the capital as well as in the city of Osaka.
OBSERVATION - the hype is the number of infections. However, where the rubber meets the road, deaths haven’t increased comparison. Link shows the two for Japan -
Should also be noted that the graph is very similar to the comparison in the US, with no comparable increase in deaths.
Paralleling biden’s trend, Kalifornia’s Newscum got a cold hit of reality from largest union in California state government (SEIU) sayin that they intend to fight Gov. Gavin Newsom’s mandate that all state employees either provide proof of vaccination or else wear masks and submit to regular COVID-19 testing.

Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 6.5 percent in the second quarter of 2021 (table 1), according to the “advance” estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the first quarter, real GDP increased 6.3 percent (revised). Economists expected a growth rate of 8.4% in Q2, given that Biden and Congress spent $1.9 trillion of relief money beginning in March.

Scratching my head - how does any of this stop the flood at the borders?
AG Garland is threatening to sue Texas in response to Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order, which instructs law enforcement to stop any vehicle suspected of carrying migrants who crossed the southern border. Now the Texas/Fed govt conflict is about to enter the game of chicken -who will backdown first.

OBSERVATION - The DOJ is setting up conditions to go after Red States over illegal immigration and voting reforms. These will be just the opening shots and I fully expect that they will expand against pro-2d amendment and anti-goat wuhan dictates. This is a classic lawfare conflict of states rights vs federal intrusion that in many cases will have to work all the way up to the supreme court. Democrats are picking these fights in order to try to gain traction for the 2022 midterms - which are looking increasingly grim for them to retain control over both houses. Key battle grounds are Georgia (voting reforms) and Texas (illegal immigration). If the DOJ can get them to buckle, it will grant them further leverage to go against other states.

Biden said he believes the likeliest scenario through which the U.S. ends up in armed conflict with another major military power would be in response to a cyber attack.

Russia -
Times of Israel is alleging that during June talks between US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin received the impression that “Washington does not welcome the continuous Israeli raids,” and believes Moscow can act more aggressively to foil them. According to the unnamed source, the Russians are now supplying Syrian forces with more advanced anti-missile systems and knowhow, rendering them more effective at countering Israeli raids. Because of the new Russian policy, Syria was able to thwart Israeli strikes last week, the report said.
OBSERVATION - There has been RUMINT out there of Russia’s policy change and I noted in a previous report the use by Syria of more modern Russian made systems. The strikes last week were also a cat and mouse game by Israel which used F16 and not its stealth F35s to gain the attention of Syrian ADA radar systems. This seems to be marking the start of a race to see who’s systems can counter the others. Be watching to see if the Soviet equipment is good enough to have Israeli airstrikes against them as they’ve done in the past.

Details are sketchy as I write this but it is apparent that a vessel, M/T Mercer Street, was attacked by what is believed to be a UAV while passing off the coast of Oman in the Arabian Sea and approaching the Gulf of Oman. Casualties reported. Ship owned by by a Japanese firm and managed by a British firm. No cargo was on board at the time. Initial reports indicated that it was an Israeli owned ship.
NOTE - this could be part of the long running conflict by Iran to intimidate other nations or an attempt to strike at an Israeli asset with plausible deniability. Watch for any Israeli response if the latter.

Syria -
Pro Assad forces are trying to lay siege to Daraa Al-Balad in an attempt to expel the local militants from the city. There have been attempts at a ceasefire, but nothing holding. Pro Syrian forces apparently have not been able to penetrate very deep into the city. The concentration of forces on Daraa seems to opened up other key positions that anti-assad forces are capturing. In Daraa, the number of casualties rose to 28, including 11 civilian dead, including 5 children, 9 local fighters and 8 dead from the government forces.
In the north, Pro assad forces launched significant artillery attacks in the southern portions of Idlib Provence.
The Turkish army and its factions renewed the bombardment with shells and heavy weapons on the villages of Malikiyah and Shawargha of the Shara district in Afrin.
OBSERVATION - Things getting really busy across three zones. The most serious is the Daraa battles as failure to capture the city is causing the switch to siege warfare. But this apparently is opening up the Syrian forces to significant losses in surrounding areas, which may in turn cause the Syrian forces to face a level of siege.

OVERALL OBSERVATION - OMG, what a circus. Wuhan craziness is at a max. Try as they may, the silencing of wuhan questioners is failing as data from across the world is forcing a change in the narrative. Big on this change is the observations that the vaccinated are at more of a risk to ‘delta’ than some unvaxxed. Along with this, evidence is that ‘delta’ isn’t as lethal as the fear mongers are wanting it to be. I think that the globalists/leftists are straining at some mechanism to reimpose lockdowns to force economic crashes that can usher in the ‘global reset’ The tempo of the effort, barely summarized in what I have time to distill down here is at such a frenzy that something is coming down the road - and soon. Here are just some of the highlights that caught my attention.
In Britain, documents published by the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) today warned a future strain could be as deadly as MERS — which has a case fatality rate of 35 per cent — could be on the way. And in a downside of Britain’s hugely successful vaccination drive, the team warned the country’s greater levels of immunity may help speed up the virus’s evolutionary process.
After first indicating that lockdowns were being studied, the WH quickly backpedaled to say more lock downs were off the table. Others, citing sources in the WH (RUMINT) are saying that more lockdowns are being planned to start the latter half of August.
Adding to the clown show is the CDC scrambling to produce the ‘delta’ data which is claimed to be its source for the latest round of masking calls. Some 35,000 vaccinated Americans are getting infected with Wuhan every week, according to a recent estimate from the CDC. The estimate was part of an internal CDC presentation obtained and published by The Washington Post. The reports of breakthrough infections of those vaccinated are increasing across the board. It appears that even the MSN won’t be able to ignore. One of the latest reports the CDC study in Massachusetts showing 74% of 469 new cases were fully vaxxed.

Senator/Dr. Rand Paul made the following observations regarding ‘delta’ - He cited a recent study out of England that observed the Delta variant in 92,000 patients of varying ages. Zero vaccinated people under the age of 50 died in this study, and of the 52,000 people who were unvaccinated, six died. Over age 50, half the number of people died when compared with 2020 numbers.
“So, the Delta variant is more transmissible but less deadly,’’ Sen. Paul said. “But if you say that, Facebook will take you down; they’ll chastise you, take away your birthday, and say you’re spreading mistruth. But it’s absolutely factual.”
More studies are in the pipeline for publication documenting that those who recovered naturally from wuhan have substantial natural protection against reinfections for at least up to one year. An Israeli study came to that conclusions months ago and now a pre-print paper is saying much the same.

Data released July 30th but the CDC show that between Dec. 14, 2020 and July 23, 2021, a total of 518,770 total adverse events were reported to VAERS, including 11,940 deaths — an increase of 535 over the previous week. There were 63,102 serious injuries reported during the same time period — up 14,717 compared with the previous week.
Kroger and Walmart, two of the nation’s biggest retailing chains, are changing their mask policies back to encouraging mask wearing. Kroger is now “strongly” encouraging all individuals, including those who are vaccinated, to wear a mask when in its stores and facilities. Walmart said it will require all its workers — including vaccinated ones — to wear masks in areas with high infection rates of COVID-19. Walmart will also bring back its “health ambassadors” who will be positioned at the entrances and hand out masks to customers.
Authorities in Australia have called in the military to occupy parts of Sydney and enforce the country’s latest draconian COVID-19 lockdown. It remains to be seen whether the troops will be used to police protesters. Adding fuel to the fire, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that Australia will reopen its borders and end lockdowns when 80 percent of the population is fully vaccinated.
OBSERVATION - Finally, CNN is warning Americans that it is “about to get much harder not to be vaccinated”. The almost panic that the biden and medical/globalist establishment has been pushing vaccination still raises warnings of something more ominous ahead.
News seeping out of China reports that ‘delta’ has hit 15 cities across the country. The latest outbreak “may prove to be of a larger scale than the previous outbreak in Guangzhou, South China’s Guangdong Province” that first hit in May, the Global Times reported.

A British Columbia health authority is apologizing after being made aware that a clinic had handed out yellow stars for those getting their second COVID-19 vaccines. Vancouver Coastal Health became aware of the issue when a vaccine recipient posted a photo on social media.
“A yellow star for double vaccination? Really…?” Andrea Coutu wrote on Twitter Thursday, tagging VCH, the provincial health minister and the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.
Lawmakers predict that they can raise nearly $30 billion in revenue through collecting more taxes on cryptocurrency as part of a new bipartisan deal on infrastructure, but that estimate is getting pushback from analysts who say the plan is not as easily administered as it is drawn up on paper.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen held a meeting with federal regulators to discuss the need to come up with plans to regulate stablecoins, a type of cryptocurrency that have their value tied to another asset class, such as gold or fiat currency.
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell also recently told lawmakers that it is “very important” to regulate such tokens.

Commerce Department report on Friday that ,excluding food and energy, consumer prices were 3.5 percent higher last month than they were in June 2020, the briskest pace of inflation since the summer of 1991 and an acceleration from a month ago. The data comes from the Bureau of Economic Analysis’ personal consumption expenditure (PCE) price index, which is the index used by the Fed in its inflation targeting and projections.
Biden and congress apparently will allow the nationwide ban on evictions to expire this weekend, citing the Supreme Court’s ruling only to extend it through the end of July.
In Kalifornia, the State Water Resources Control Board is scheduled for an emergency meeting on August 3rd. The board’s vote will determine whether farmers and ranchers have the water they need to see their crops and their livestock through. The board’s executive director, Eileen Sobeck, said there is not enough water “to meet all of the legitimate demands” and believes the government’s rationing efforts are necessary. The state is now using curtailment orders to discriminate against certain groups of farmers, depriving them of basic resources. As a political weapon, during the last drought, this small group of board members got together and issued curtailment orders on certain groups of farmers. The board was able to stifle their operations, depriving them of due process to protest the government overreach. The board’s action was determined to be illegal and a Sacramento Superior Court Judge even issued a temporary restraining order to prevent the State Water Resources Control Board from blocking water supplies to four irrigation companies West Side Irrigation District, Central Delta Water Agency, South Delta Water Agency and Woods Irrigation Co.
NOTE - Kalifornia is following an even more harsh action transjectory that will utterly devastate the state’s agriculture industry - all in the effort to save a few fish. Environmentalists never ask how fish survived these cyclical droughts before man came around.

“brutal arrest” in Aurora CO is a potentially developing hot spot as BLM is claiming police brutality. The video depicts two white Aurora Police Department (APD) officers attempting to arrest three men for outstanding felony warrants on 23 July. Two of the men fled while APD officer John Haubert detained Kyle Vinson at the scene. During the arrest, Haubert appears to choke and strike Vinson several times with his service pistol. BLM has had very little to draw upon to stimulate protests/riots lately. This is one to watch and see if it breaks that trend.

Fiame Naomi Mataafa indicated she would only approve investments that had clear benefits for her country, and expressed doubts about the upside of the Pacific being a pawn in a geopolitical tussle between the two superpowers.

Iran’s state-run Al Alam TV says the deadly attack on the “Israeli-owned” tanker Mercer Street was carried out by Resistance Forces as retaliation for last week’s attack on Syria’s Al-Dabaa Military Airport.

Overnight fighting slowed down in all three areas noted yesterday. In the major battle area of Daraa, artillery and anti-aircraft shelling of the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad, coinciding with renewed clashes on the front of the Manshiyya neighborhood in Daraa al-Balad were reported.

Wuhan virus -
The ‘vaccine is safe and effective mantra is continuing to fall apart. Approximately one in four new COVID-19 cases reported in Los Angeles are among the fully vaccinated. The data comes from July 1 to July 16, during which time there were 13,598 reported cases in Los Angeles. Vaccinated people accounted for 3,592 of them, or 26 percent, according to KCOP-TV. According to Los Angeles County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer “As more people are vaccinated, the number of fully vaccinated people becoming infected will increase, and with the delta variant that’s far more infectious, exposures to infections have also increased.”
This story keeps reverberations and is worth repeating. CDC’s director Dr. Rochelle Walensky in March of this year, publicly promised that vaccinated people could not spread the virus and infect others, this week she essentially said that vaccines are failing, and that vaccinated people may now carry higher viral loads than unvaccinated people, contributing to the spread of wuhan.
NOTE - Those of ‘science’ can’t get their narrative right. Going back to masks - remember Fauci recommended wearing two of them.
Speaking of narrative, CDC Director Walensky also went on record recently repeating the 14 days to flatten the curve mantra - “We can halt the chain of transmission,” Walensky told “CBS This Morning” on Wednesday. “We can do something if we unify together, if we get people vaccinated who are not yet vaccinated, if we mask in the interim, we can halt this in just a matter of a couple of weeks.”

Australians who merely post anti-lockdown information online could face fines of up to $11,000 under a draconian new piece of legislation. Under the proposal, which is being pushed by the opposition in in New South Wales, protest organizers would be fined a whopping $20,000 and people who attend would be fined $5,500. However, the law would punish “people sharing information on social media about illegal rallies and inciting others to illegally attend” even more harshly, hitting them with $11,000 fines.
Australia today used helicopters and the army to enforce its ‘Zero Covid’ lockdown, as thousands of police flooded Sydney city centre to enforce the rules and hand out $500 fines for those not wearing a mask. Sirens blared across the city and a draconian message was broadcast from the skies, as millions were told: ‘This is public health order —do not break rules —you will be found and fines issued.’ Ministers had tried to eliminate all cases through isolation and closed borders, but just 17% of adults have been vaccinated and concerns are now growing over the virus’ growing prevalence across the country. Today, up to 1,300 police officers swarmed Sydney and set up a network of roadblocks in a massive show of force to avoid a repeat of last week’s violent anti-lockdown protest.
Some 250 fines, each worth $500, were issued across the city today, with one man arrested after traveling on trains outside his local government area without a reasonable excuse. OBSERVATION - Kalifornia continues its efforts to dictate its laws upon the rest of the country. They’ve done this for decades with the auto industry, forcing them to meet Kaliforina standards, not national standards. Because of its population, Kalifornia is a huge consumer of food and commodities produced outside the state, carrying massive clout to induce those producers to meet their requirements. Hundreds of thousands of Kalifornian residents are facing the complete loss of water as municipal water supplies completely dry up. Fort Bragg on the Mendocino Coast, city leaders are rushing to install an emergency desalination system according to MSN News. In Healdsburg, lawn watering is banned with fines of up to $1,000. In Hornbrook, a small town in Siskiyou County, faucets have gone completely dry, and the chairman of the water district is driving 15 miles each way to take showers and wash clothes.
The end of the eviction moratorium last night, as many as 1.95 million households across America owed a collective $15 billion in back rent. State and local governments have struggled to distribute $47 billion in federal money aimed at helping tenants who can’t pay rent because of the pandemic-triggered downturn. Meanwhile, many landlords have been squeezed because they have been unable to collect rent but remain on the hook for taxes, maintenance and other bills. In June, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that “clear and specific congressional authorization, via new legislation would be necessary” for another extension.

The Treasury Department will begin conducting emergency cash-conservation steps on Monday to avoid busting the federal borrowing limit after a two-year suspension of the debt ceiling expired at the end of July.
Economists say those so-called extraordinary measures will allow Treasury to pay off the government’s bills without floating new debt for two to three months. After that, Congress will need to either raise or suspend the borrowing limit or risk the U.S. defaulting on its obligations. The limit, a facet of American politics for over a century, prevents the Treasury from issuing new bonds to fund government activities once a certain debt level is reached. That level reached $22 trillion in August 2019 and was suspended until Saturday.

Maxine Waters urged the CDC to ignore the Supreme Court ruling and unilaterally extend the eviction moratorium. The new order is to expire Oct 3 if not shut down earlier by the courts. Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley, says “President Biden took an oath to uphold the Constitution, not to violate it when he can use the delay in any final order to get the money out the door.”
OBSERVATION - biden is knowingly having the CDC violate current court judgements that it doesn’t have constitutional or congressional authority to put any bans in place. It is only to “gain some additional time”. Basically he’s counting on protected court battles to buy the time for congress to act, then issue a mea culpa.
Were this a republican president, impeachment proceedings would begin immediately. This diktat falls in line with the globalist agenda that there should be no property ownership of any kind as it strips rights away from property owners and flies in the face of federal court rulings. Government forces were forced to withdraw from a number of military checkpoints in the town of Jiza, in the eastern countryside of Syria’s Daraa. Pro-Assad forces targeted the besieged neighborhoods of Daraa with heavy machine guns despite a 24-hour truce agreement that was agreed upon between the central committees and the Russian forces in the morning. Civilians caught up in the fighting are trying to make their way from outlying communities to the main city of Daraa.
NOTE - True to form, part of Syria’s strategy it to create a humanitarian crisis to overwhelm its opposition. Brutal to say the least, criminal but they don’t care, no one is going to prosecute them.

Afghanistan -
Taliban took credit for the attack on the Afghan defense minister’s house in Kabul which left at least eight dead. They also warned of more attacks against government leaders.
On other fronts, things are not going well for the Afghan govt. Taliban furthered its advances in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, capturing nine out of 10 districts of Helmand province’s capital, Lashkar Gah, residents and officials said. Afghan government forces launched airstrikes, backed by the U.S., in a desperate effort to defend the city. The fall of Lashkar Gah would be a major turning point in the offensive that the Taliban has waged over recent months as U.S. and NATO forces complete their pullout from the war-torn country. It would also be the first provincial capital captured by the Taliban in years.

Wuhan virus -
Reports are that the FDA has accelerated its timetable to fully approve Pfizer-BioNTech’s coronavirus vaccine, aiming to complete the process by the start of next month. Approval will create increased pressure on those avoiding the jab over it’s emergency authorization. But the rapid approval process, without the extensive long term effects studies may well be a sticking point for many.
The Washington Post reports today that not only is the so-called “Delta variant” in full swing, but now something much worse is on the horizon (cue ominous music) . South Korea’s Disease Control and Prevention Agency said Tuesday that it had recorded at least two cases of the new coronavirus delta-plus variant, which some experts believe to be more transmissible than the original delta variant that was first detected in India. Data still shows that the ‘delta’ it is much less lethal than Wuhan Classic - a point universally absent from standard news reports.
This new ‘delta plus variant’ is just in time as many in the medical community are looking at the CDC data and are suggesting that the plain old ‘delta’ infection bloom has already peaked over a majority of the nation. Similar observations coming from Britain.
Reported by CNN and others, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is expected to seek authorization to make Covid-19 vaccines mandatory for all active duty troops as soon as this week, following President Joe Biden’s directive that the military examine how and when it could make that happen. Austin’s “inclination is towards making the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory” for active duty troops, a defense official told CNN. If the secretary makes that final recommendation, he could seek a presidential waiver to allow the vaccine to be administered to troops before full approval by the Food and Drug Administration. A Pentagon decision and recommendation on how to proceed could come this week, several officials say. Currently about 62% of the military is “fully” vaccinated.

Not wasting time, landlord groups are suing the Biden administration for extending the pandemic eviction moratorium from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, claiming the new order can only be extended by new legislation, as ruled by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Alabama and Georgia associations of Realtors filed an emergency motion Wednesday night with Judge Dabney Friedrich of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, asking her to enforce the Supreme Court’s recent order stating that the CDC could not extend the moratorium without new legislation.
NOTE - The whole moratorium mess will have to be untangled sooner than later - if common sense were to prevail. Kicking the can down the road will only make matters worse or land lords.

Greg Abbott said he is ready to present evidence in court to reverse a federal judge’s block to an executive order allowing police to stop vehicles suspected of carrying immigrants from the border into the state without legal permission. This is the first of the law fare that the biden administration intends to use against state pushback to his open border policies.
There has been a 644% increase in Haitians caught at the border in spite of biden warnings to them not to come.

“Biden admitted that the Supreme Court is likely going to strike down this order, but it will take some time for the court system to catch up with the executive branch actions. In other words, he’s willing to ignore the Constitution in favor of the possibility of short-term political gain. And if Biden’s willing to do that when it comes to the issue of evictions, why wouldn’t he embrace that same strategy when it comes to our Second Amendment rights?”
If biden were to move in that direction it could result in serious consequences. Given his track record and loose handling of the law from not only wuhan eviction violations, but illegals/border another areas, I could totally see biden pushing this scenario. Such a power and gun grab could trigger open CW2 violence against any who try to enforce such an unconstitutional effort.
Sen Rand Paul has laid out some very serious rhetoric - “Resist. They can’t arrest us all. They can’t keep all your kids home from school. They can’t keep every government building closed – although I’ve got a long list of ones they should. We don’t have to accept the mandates, lockdowns, and harmful policies of the petty tyrants and feckless bureaucrats. We can simply say no, not again. “

US Navy has begun the Large Scale Exercise on Tuesday and the drills across 17 time zones will continue until August 16. Forces will participate in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the exercises are designed to show the US’ “readiness” for a potential global conflict.
The Duterte administration has re-committed to the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) basing deal that would let U.S. forces operate from the Philippines after a meeting with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. The Philippines is facing increased threats from China over disputed islands and China is aggressively working to physically secure them. The Philippines has been wishy washy on the VFA but it looks like the latest round of Chinese incursions has tipped the scale.

As a deterrent to China, Japan is planning to deploy anti-aircraft and anti-ship missile units to Ishigaki. Timelime for deployment is still being finalized. Japan is also looking into completely fortifying the first island chain which consists of Mageshima, Okinawa, Amami-Oshima, Miyakojima, and Yonagunijima. These islands are located between Japan and Taiwan.
The Queen Elizabeth strike group did not conduct a 12-mile transit of the Taiwan Straits as expected, but departed the South China Sea region via Luzon Strait between Taiwan and the Philippines. Some observers see this as Britain backing down to Chinese threats.

Sources are indicating that North Korea is releasing emergency military rice reserves as its food shortage worsens. During a ruling party meeting in June, Kim urged officials to find ways to boost agricultural production, saying the country’s food situation “is now getting tense.” Earlier, he even compared the ongoing pandemic-related difficulties to a 1990s famine that killed hundreds of thousands of people. No relief is coming from China either, with the border closed and China facing significant agricultural failures/losses for a second year from flooding and diseases.

Russian military equipment has been seen being deployed in Belarusian territory in preparation for the joint Russia-Belarus quadrennial military exercise, ZAPAD21. There is considerable tension along its border with Lithuania and Ukraine especially after Russia’s threat to Ukraine earlier this year and an attempted coup in Belarus which triggered them forcing muslim refugees into the Baltic region.

Israel -
IDF stepped up its strikes against rocket launch areas in Lebanon with jets attacking areas and the infrastructure used for terrorism. This follows at least two rounds of artillery fire after rockets were fired at Israel yesterday. IDF says it fired more than 100 shells of various types towards south Lebanon in retaliation to rocket attack.
OBSERVATION - Israel is being careful to target only Palestinian terror group assets and not Hezebollah - although Hezebollah’s control of the region implies tacit approval/support for such attacks.

Iran -
More details concerning the hijack of the Asphalt Princess. The crew managed to sabotage the ship’s engines, preventing it from being forced to enter Iranian waters. They also definitely identified the hijackers as Iranian. When US and Omani warships turned up the Iranians got into some boats and went off. Reports are the crew is safe and no one was injured.
OBSERVATION - Iran has conducted these kinds of operations on numerous occasions and have been useful in creating an atmosphere of fear / concern for the volume of shipping through the region. I suspect that these attacks will increase in the area until serious military counter operations start taking them out. Until then, Iran will keep poking the bear.

Syrians are claiming to have shot down MQ-4C Triton over Aleppo overnight. Details are not clear at the moment as the Tritons are naval assets and not likely to be flying over the land in such a manner. Other reports from anti-assad forces indicate it was a Russian drone that was shot down over Aleppo - which makes better sense.
Russian warplanes are supporting the pro-assad forces in the Dacaa region, targeting the outskirts of the town of Kansafra with missiles.

Misc of Note -
Oroville reservoir reflects the ongoing situation in Kalifornia. Currently, the reservoir stands at 643.5 feet, about 25% of its capacity. The previous record low for the lake was 645.11 feet, recorded on Sept. 7, 1977. At its current pace, Lake Oroville is losing roughly a foot a day, as water is released from Oroville Dam to meet water quality and wildlife requirements downstream.
Perhaps most troubling, the operations of Lake Oroville’s hydroelectric power plant will have to be suspended when the lake reaches the 630- to 640-foot level, something that seems almost certain to happen within the next two weeks. At full operation, the hydroelectric power plant can power up to 800,000 homes, according to reporting from KPIX.
NOTE - The generators cannot operate at full capacity because the volume of water required to offset the loss of hydraulic head. At a 1 foot/day drop rate (which will accelerate as lake volume decreases dramatically at lower levels). Loss of any power as the really hot days of summer hit bodes ill for the state. BTW, the emphasis is on “water quality and wild life” priorities.
