Whether history is writing about Roosevelt or Stalin-or even Hitler for that matter-it tells us that economic hard times produce a reaction but not one toward the middle but rather toward the extreme. My rule of thumb has always been: failed socialism only produces more socialism.

Offer of proof: Venezuela.

My fear is that the Democrats are much better than we are at not letting any crisis go to waste.

Venezuela is a good case study for us, as it’s so current. First thing Chavez did was outlaw private ownership of guns, & people willingly gave them up. They try that here (& that’s EXACTLY what they’re intending) the reaction will not be the same.
