I’m kind of surprised that a Democrat would make such a comment, because after all they were the ones who wanted to keep slavery and fought a civil war in order to do so.

These people have no idea. None. They should try living in a real tyranny such as China, Soviet Union, or Cuba.
Capitalism is slavery. Good God.
These are the same people who liken everyone they don’t like to Hitler, and every perceived inconvenience as the Holocaust, so it is no no surprise they would say things like this.

Lessee.
Socialism: The State takes stuff you make and redistributes it. But it’s not slavery.
Capitalism: You freely exchange the stuff you make with other folks for the the stuff they made at a price acceptable to both. But that is slavery.
Why the hell aren’t those people laughed off the stage.

Have to say it. Many should love capitalism............it has been a source of survival for quite a few people.

The Great Fiction is that one deserves live indefinitely at the expense of others. Once one comes to believe that, any type of sophistry in defense of systems that promise that outcome is acceptable. Collectivism murdered 100 million people in the last century, but it did so in a warm-hearted way. /s
For the young, Socialism has become a fictionalized ideal of Sweden and Denmark, where people sit around colorful coffee houses all day reading bad poetry to each other and enjoying free health care and education presided over by a 50.01% female government. No mention is made of the giant Scandinavian capitalist industries paying taxes to support this fantasy.

incoming “Squad” member Congressman-elect Jamaal BowmanHow does one become a member of the "Squat" anyway? Is there a rush week? An initiation ceremony? 'Thank you, nonbinary person, may I have another'?
