I think it is a good chance that the protest could turn into a celebration.
Pepper spray and Tasers/stun guns are legal in DC.
At the March on DC two weeks ago, helmets and plate carriers weren’t unusual.
The Proud Boys were out in force and very visible as protection.
I think so, too.

When our government turns on us, civil disobedience becomes not only our right but, our responsibility. We are allowed to dissolve the government, not the other way around.

Talk is cheap. If you haven’t been to a DC protest, you have no idea the law enforcement presence there. Dc Metro Police, secret service, Capitol police, fbi, private security, ATF, you name it.
In principle I agree with you. In reality you may make it 50’ from your parking space.
