My wife loved the book. I had not read it. We watched the movie together. I thought it was a bunch of nothing. She wasn’t impressed either.
I also read the book several years ago. I had no idea they made a movie adaption. My parents took the hillbilly highway to Ohio from south western WV. I get it. I now teach at a high school in the same town my parents were raised. I’m a proud Appalachian... and I have lived elsewhere most of my life. I’d put my students up against any student in this country. They are smart, resilient and well equipped for the battles ahead. I’m hunkering down here in the hills with my tribe!
