President Donald Trump continued Friday to deny the results of the election, pressuring state officials in Michigan and Georgia to overturn the will of voters, and increasing fears that he might refuse to cede power to President-elect Joe Biden.

But those looking to the nation's Founders, or the Constitution they framed, for answers to such a crisis will come up empty-handed. There is nothing in the Constitution about what to do if a president refuses to step down when his term expires, according to three historians and a constitutional law professor.

"No, the Framers did not envisage a president refusing to step down or discuss what should be done in such a situation," said Yale historian Sean Wilentz. "There's obviously nothing in the Constitution about it."

WOW!!! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8URukvnUYTw

The left cares about the constitution....

Just like how the left cares about Christianity right before they sentence a murderer to death they drag out “thou shalt not kill”.... even though themselves advocate the killing of innocent babies...

Fantasy.

President has not refused to step down.

Electoral College hasn’t voted. Inauguration day hasn’t happened.

Divorced from reality.

Nor did the founders make a place for someone declaring himself king. Unless you count the second admendment.

The Founders never thought one of the Political Parties would be SO EVIL as to try to destroy the US

Our Founders also never figured on a First Lady (Hillary) or Chief of Staff (Valerie Jarrett) running the White House as President of the United States.

The above is actually a bigger deal than a President justifiably uncovering voter fraud.

In case you haven’t noticed, Legally, President Trump is still our President, and will be until January 20th, 2021.

Check out the Constitution for more information.

Wake me when he refuses after his last official day (assuming the steal is successful). Otherwise this is just nonsense.

Fortunately the Founders DID prepare for a would-be president that tries to steal an election.

Trump has never said he would not step down if he lost in a fair and not fraudulent election.

He does not have to concede nor does he have to make you or anyone happy until January of 2021.

Funny, as yet no President has refused to relinquish
the office.

This is a projection of the democrat party going
all the way back to 2016...

Baseless as the media is so fond of using.

The Founders didn't prepare for a president who refuses to step down, historians say

Actually, they did. It's in the Constitution. A presidential term last four years. On January 20th at precisely noon, one man will be sworn in to office and the other man will return to private life.

There's no constitutional requirement for a concession or even that the outgoing president does a proper turnover.

Well the title is way off because President Trump hasn’t refused to step down...so the rest of the article is meaningless. The media and the left are pushing that false claim when they’re actually pi**ed he’s fighting their coup!

More importantly, they didn’t anticipate a leftist party subverting a national election through myriad practices of chicanery and corruption. They truly thought we were an honorable and free people capable of self-governance.

They did not anticipate total ruthlessness following only one maxim in their takedown of the USA — “the ends justify the means.”

They did not anticipate that the nation could evolve beyond the divine right of kings to freedom and then slip back to subjugation, tyranny, despotism and enslavement by government.
