Yes, I surmised there’s something for backup (just to keep some memory alive for awhile - unless it’s a flash memory). I always assumed it’s some sort of capacitor-type component but a small rechargeable battery makes sense too.

Attempts to ping cell tower(s) for possible triangulation or simply GPS? On a more expensive phone (I have a cheap one) it wouldn’t surprise me for GPS either.

Yes, the remote camera and mic thing I knew about. That’s why I also refer to them as tracking devices. No Alexa for me.

I’ve read that you cannot trust some home security systems as they may have backdoors, too. /shiny side out

Have you seen videos where hacker have hacked into people’s homes via security systems, nanny cams, and baby monitors? In one where a kid was playing in a room, the guy at the other end was giving her instructions on things to do.
