I lived in West Newton and Arlington in the 80’s. Worked on Copley Square. Other than Wilmington, DE, I’ve never met more unfriendly people.

Yes, I can say from much experience that they are mostly hard, lost souls. You can tell a lot about people and an area in how they respond to the simple offer of a basic evangelical gospel tract. In the 80's and 90's passing them out in Park street or Gov. Center upstairs to those on the Green line C train, which stops at Copley and heads to BC stood in much contrast to the lower income people taking the Gov. Center Blue Line downstairs out to East Boston and Revere and towards Chelsea. But all souls need Jesus.
