Thanks for your perspective and your input.

We are seeing very encouraging signs of an awakening amongst our minority populations. Slowly they are rubbing their eyes and starting to walk off the plantation.

This is a process and it is going to take time. They are not going to sound like a 2009 Tea Party rally overnight.

Going pedal-to-the-metal to press them for ideological orthodoxy would be a HUGE mistake IMHO.

Agreed. The respectful thing to do is exactly what anyone would do who is trying to convince a close friend or relative that they’ve been wrong in the past, which is to present facts and perhaps a bit of your logic, and to then back off a bit, let that person think, and ultimately to let them make up their own mind. We simply cannot treat the black community as a whole, or any particular person within it, any differently. To do so would not only be stupid, it would be morally wrong.
