Last night’s debate was devastating for Joe Biden and the Democrats.
Depite a favorable list of topics and a biased liberal moderator, Joe Biden could not seal the deal.
Biden flopped.

And President Trump pounding Joe Biden on his outrageous comments in the 90’s about “predator” young black males hit the target.

On Friday Rasmussen Report’s numbers on black voters and Trump was up to 46%!

This is devastating news for Democrats who need at least 80% of the black vote to remain relevant.

Agreed.

Such people are not Conservatives, no matter what they call or believe about themselves. Conservatives favor conserving the ideals of this nation, which are all about maximizing liberty, ensuring equal treatment for all people and, in order to ensure that those goals are attained, about minimizing the power of government over both individuals and the citizenry as a whole.

These people worship order - which is to say, government control over people, whether they realize it or not, and whether they can even admit it to themselves or not. They are NOT “law and order” types, but just plain “order” types. “Law and order” necessarily includes the law end of things, which specifically includes numerous protections for the individual at the expense of order and government power, and a specific prohibition in our most basic statement of rights against “cruel and unusual punishment.” What ISN’T cruel or unusual about serving a life sentence for narcotics trafficking when there are at least somewhat reasonable doubts about whether she was even guilty in the first place? Murderers average 7 years in prison - when we catch them, which is 50% of the time or less - so where’s the decency and lack of cruelty when comparing that lady’s sentence to that of your average murderer?

That’s what a businessman does - he follows through on his promises because if he doesn’t, he’s very soon either out of business or much poorer. That mindset is the very reason why he had a list of his promises put in the room next to the Oval Office (also known in some circles as the Monica Lewinsky Memorial Humidor), to have items crossed off as they were accomplished...because that’s what people in business do. No President to my knowledge has ever done anything like that, and the reason for that is quite simple - politicians don’t do that because THEIR mindset is to promise everything to everyone in hopes of getting elected, and then proceeding to make a new set of promises (or blame-shifting excuses for failing to keep the old ones) for the next election.

Trump is different - and it isn’t just his language and lack of diplomatic niceties toward his opponents; it is his very mindset, which is completely oriented toward setting and accomplishing goals. I’d say that a guy who turned a $1 million loan into a fortune of over $1 billion in 30 years, before he inherited a dime from his parents, is pretty damned good at accomplishing the goals that he sets.

Yeah, I agree with you about the legacy, which is about both being remembered and giving back to the community and nation. Giving back is a natural urge and not just born out of the ego fulfillment of having your name attached to something. What I really respect about Trump is his attachment to the truth and keeping his promises. Biden is a career politician who spouts words, words, words... almost a type of madness. Trump has a core which is pretty obvious. Yes, he can brag at times and is prone to exaggerate (salesman can do at times) but these are hardly sins of magnitude compared to the incessant twin liars of Obama and Joe. Trump has a braggadocio quality which I think he probably got growing up with Italian construction workers in New York or from the natural pride New Yorkers have about New York. So though his personality can be off putting to some people, his virtues of keeping his promises and energy for work are amazing. He has raised the bar for future presidents.

If you haven’t already, read Ann Coulter’s “Adios, America!” which was written in 2015. I doubt that he got all of his ideas on immigration from that book (quite to the contrary, his talks about this issue a bit in “The Art of the Deal” written in the mid-’80s), but much of what he has said over the past 5 years might as well have been lifted verbatim from it. The simple fact (which Coulter shows in a very organized fashion and backs up with voluminous sources) is that since 1965 the Democrats have been engaged in a very long-term plan to change the electorate in such a way as to ensure that they someday have unchallenged power on a national level in the same way as they utterly rule California.

The current immigration fiasco started when LBJ heard from his political advisors, shortly after his massive 1964 landslide, that he would be the last Democrat President (barring big mistakes by the Republicans) was based upon the fact that since 1948 the Democrats have failed to win a majority of the white vote, and by the 1964 election that not only hadn’t changed, but it was accelerating away from the Dems. So that’s how we got the 1965 Immigration Act (that, and large Dem majorities in both Houses) that literally turned the quota system on its head - we went from admitting 90% from Europe and 10% from the Turd World to the exact opposite, overnight. That LBJ thing was, btw, part of what Ben Wattenberg (one of LBJ’s press people, and was present at the meeting) mentioned in a PBS documentary that he did about 35 or so years ago about the Democrats. The bill was written by RFK (then the AG) and proposed by Ted Kennedy in the Senate - they clearly were dreaming of a family dynasty and, shameless politicians that they were, used sympathy for their brother’s murder for their perceived self-interest.

Yeah, Trump is the person to do it - the ONLY person to do it. He is the furthest thing from a politician that we’ll ever see in the WH - he is a very intelligent, very creative, extremely hard-working, goal-driven businessman who, being a New Yorker’s New Yorker, doesn’t let what others think or say deter him from getting things done; unlike a politician, he measures success by results that you can see, touch or measure...not by polls or the desire to be liked.

Oh, and btw, that is one (among) many reasons why they absolutely loath him - he’s destroying their gig. Ditto for exposing their corruption - whether involving money or power or both. These very same facts are why so many of the people who aren’t part of the power elite and never will be (and likely don’t even WANT to be), love him and support him like no one since Reagan (and, perhaps over time, he will even be more intensely revered...we have to wait at least another 10 years to find out).

He also does that with his opponents - he gets them to admit and expose their inner selves (and, most especially, their corruption, their arrogance, their contempt for average people and their hatred of our system of limited power for government) like no one I have ever seen.

Everyone here should put that on their social media and email to all of their contacts. The wider distribution this video gets, the more that it will have an impact in the Hispanic community. It isn’t that people will vote the way that some guy they never met tells them to, of course, it is about having a well-known and well-respected person from their community telling them to think for themselves and not let anyone tell them what is in their interest (including himself).

Not trying to lecture, just giving my opinion. That’s what people do here - and I’ve been on the receiving end of it many times. The difference is that unless someone is being nasty to me, I take it as someone trying to give me the benefit of their knowledge and experience. If I didn’t want to learn anything, or to help others learn, I wouldn’t be on FR. I honestly don’t know why you take offense.

I agree with all of what you said. Trump is very much like Shreck - there are many layers to his personality.

I agree with you about the bragging and exaggeration - it is partly experience, and partly about being a (very successful) salesman. Part of it is surely an act. In addition, part of it may be due to him craving attention in his youth - who knows, I’m no psychologist. But whatever the causes, and however annoying it may be on some occasions, I think that it has been generally good for him and for this nation. He is clearly highly driven and motivated by a desire to succeed - he understands that bragging that isn’t followed by success makes you “a loser,” and I don’t think that he has ever thought of himself in that way. His drive and energy, however, have led him to accomplish enormous things on a personal level and for this country - which, given the state of this country on 1/20/2017, we desperately needed - has resulted in accomplishments that would be impossible (and perhaps even unimaginable) with any mere politician.

I can see reading your posts you feel much the same way as I do about him.

I was sick to death of professional politicians...and he was a breath of fresh air to me. And still is.

He is the polar opposite of the Clinton or Obama style of politician who parses every single thing they say, subjects every phrase to a focus testing group, studies every poll for the most politically advantageous path, and sticks their finger in the air every few seconds to get the wind direction.

I love it that he says things that are rude, not well thought out, or downright wrong on occasion because...that is the way most of us operate.

I read the book “Let Trump Be Trump”, and here was an anecdote I found hilarious from the 2016 campaign:

There were two women in the media team of Trump’s campaign who were involved in a contentious love triangle, and things came to a head right before a campaign stop. One of the women was one of his speechwriters, I think, the other was a media person.

The speechwriter got so upset at the other woman involved with the same guy she was, that she had to leave the campaign event and didn’t see Trump give his speech. When she returned to the plane, Trump was sitting in his favorite spot they always had set up for him on the plane. It was a place where they placed a bunch of newspapers and magazines for him to read, and when he sat down, nobody would disturb him.

I guess it was his “quiet time”.

So he sits down, and the sulking speechwriter comes aboard and walks by Trump, who pauses reading asks her how she liked his speech, and without much elaboration she says she didn’t see it. Trump didn’t display much reaction, and went back to reading his newspaper, held up to hide his face.

The other woman in the love triangle boarded Trump Force One soon thereafter, and two women began to argue with each other.

The argument got louder and louder, and everyone began glancing nervously at both Trump reading his paper and the two women who were approaching the shouting stage, knowing Trump didn’t want any distractions while he read his papers.

As the spat reached a crescendo, Trump lowers the paper and yells: “Cat Fight!” And just as quickly, goes back to reading the newspaper!

Sigh. I read all of Ann Coulter’s books and even saw her in person one time at Wellesley College (talk about the Belly of The Beast) but she seems to have gone off the deep end in the last five years.

That saddens me, because she was one of the lone conservative voices who was not afraid to speak out in some dark times.

She was also influential in getting me to change my mind on Joseph McCarthy, she piqued my interest enough that I did digging on my own to find out if she was telling the story correctly...and she was.
