That was an excellent show, though the ending was disappointing.
The ending episode of FX’s The Amerikans was disappointing, but only in the sense that it had to end at all, one of my all time favorite TV shows!
The ending of The Americans was a botch. The writers could have instead been true to both the subject matter and the story. In one real spy case from the era, the Soviet spy (the father) defected for the sake of his patriotic and fully American son — who had won an Air Force academy appointment. Remarkably, it was the FBI background check on the son that led to discovery of the father as a Soviet spy and his eventual defection.
yeah they botched the ending
the fbi guy wouldn’t have let them go after all that
I was disappointed in the ending as well. I had a much better ending plotted out...it had such potential, too. It was a great series though. Still not as bad as Dexters ending.
However, in real life, it wasn't Directorate S illegals who led to the near destruction of this nation...
The real strategic and tactical work, already under way in the 1980's, was the Directorate X (my label) legals who were gradually began to acquire federal government jobs or, in the 1970's, become teachers/indoctrinators on the Nation's public school system...
They are now the real undercover communist heroes... They more than accomplished (and continue to accomplish) desires of the Soviet Union that Directorate S never could...
Worry, worry, worry about that pain-in-the-ass "butterfly" left jab and it's the right uppercut or cross that gets you...
