I recall, many years ago there was a measurement of female beauty—the Helen. 1 Helen was the beauty needed to launch 1000 ships. This was divided into a necessary smaller unit: the millihelen, beauty that would cause 1 ship to sail to rescue the woman.

I don’t know if the system included the concept of negative units. How many ships’ crews would scuttle their ships to avoid sailing to rescue? Where would we put Nancy on this scale?
