“The young people don’t watch because it doesn’t interest them....they are video game fans, they are interactive with their viewing.”

That is part of it but other things factor in as well.
Most, if not all, schools have done away with phys ed. They consider it time wasted. Can’t let the tykes have ONE period a day free of indoctrination.

Too many over protective parents who won’t let their kids play sports. Most kids grew up in families that valued healthy kids and expected us to play and rough house.
They knew team sports could teach us life lessons that books couldn’t.
How to win with humility, lose with grace, work as part of a unit, follow rules or face consequences and how to work out problems.
Modern parents are so scared their precious snowflakes will lose or get a boo boo they forbid their children the valuable experience of sports.

A changing demographic that prefers Futebol (soccer) and American sports are in for a downfall.
The dusky people from south of the Rio couldn’t give a fig for traditional American sports. The rat party has been importing them for decades.
Then there are the followers of mad mo who think head chopping, stoning and throwing people from tall building are competitive activities.

Time is not the friend of televised sports as we know them.

If you have been around youth sports today, that is NOT the lessons being taught.

It is that athletes are special and don’t have to follow the rules. That cheating is only cheating if you get caught. That the only way you can get to college is by your parents paying for a travel league. That if you can’t afford to go on an elite travel league, but play school sports, you are worthless. Rules are for those who are weak.

Losing with grace? That gets you booted off the team for not showing the right attitude. Expectation is you get upset and storm off the court.

It is a different style of game. I have had a number of former pro and semi pro athletes work for me. Every one got fired for thinking that rules don’t apply, or by demanding silly things (such as a certain type of bananas). I am not willing to try again. Every one of those guys was treated special their whole life, till it they got hurt or lost the edge. Then they had to adjust to life and were not capable of it.

Sports seems to teach the lessons that LeBron learned.
