People do the faux “I care for mental health” when they have no idea about what truly goes on in this country when it comes to mental health. Once you are diagnosed with a mental health issue, apparently you never recover from it. Take the case of the gentleman in Washington state who was treated for suicidal tendencies when he was younger, went on to become a productive member of society at the age of 37 and still denied the right to own a gun. He case was denied in the state courts. People don’t care about mental health until someone starts shooting up the local high school or elementary then its all mental health people are bad and cannot own a gun to protect themselves. Florida was a good example of people not caring. If people knew the true history of mental health institutions in this country it would make 9-11 look like a day frollicking in a meadow. Not every homeless person has a mental health issue but you only hear about those homeless people with mental health issues. Many many people that are homeless have other issues other than mental health.

So true. My husband was homeless, by choice, as a young man to escape his horrible abusive father. And he’s the most sane, calm, logical person I know!

My own writing about Mental Health has been all about healing and getting on with normal life. Not the endless type, y’know what I mean.
