What a disaster Eisenhower was on justices.
“The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.”
I’m sure Schumer will go right along with this plan and not hold the Senate in pro-forma session...
“BTW, will Sen. Harris be out campaigning, or will she be sitting on the Judiciary Committee, attacking the nominee?”
Isn’t it a win either way?
McSally seems to think that her interests are served by a quick nomination/confirmation process, based on her tweets.
Law that came from the mouth and pen of Marshall back in the day would, by definition, be Marshall Law.
Stop It!!!! Damn, I seen you write this 5 times across other threads.
You don’t get it! President Trump will nominate the best for the job. Another thing you don’t get, the left has no interest in healing or unity.

Looks like Mitch did not support Murkowski in 2010, at least not publicly.
“President Trump would do well to appoint a very conservative black female in the spirit of healing and unity.”`
Or, he could appoint the very best qualified, in the spirit of healing and unity.
Why are you posting this on EVERY SINGLE RBG thread?
I swear our side just doesn’t get it. At ALL.
You think that would stop tywin loons from tearing her apart?
How about the best conservative judge that qualified?
Stop pandering! That what WE are supposed to be against. Identify politics.

Thanks much. Well, it sounds like there were still gop supporters but its nice to learn they probably didnt include McConnell. Thanks
I am not sure that he can keep it in pro forma. He is in the minority.
She may be right, I hope not but maybe she has seen the internal numbers.
McConnell kept it in pro forma to prevent Obama from making recess appointments when the Republicans were in the minority. Obama eventually declared himself that the Senate was in recess and made the recess appointments. That was a major controversy. McConnell sued and it went all the way to the Supreme Court where Obama lost 9-0 and all actions the illegally appointed officials during their tenure were declared to be null and void.
Not a word of that is factual. The NRSC nor the GOP did anything to support her write-in candidacy after losing the nomination. The NRSC fully supported Joe Miller with direct campaign assistance and political advertising. He wouldn’t have had much of a campaign at all without them - he was pitiful. The “Tea Party Express” which propelled his primary challenge all but disappeared in the general...same thing they did in a lot of races.
I believe in that case the majority (Dems) had failed to properly recess the Senate. McConnell kept it in pro forma when the GOP was in the majority,
So the question is, can the majority adjourn/recess the Senate, I believe they can but could be wrong.
The unfortunate thing is that is why she has been far more brazen in her so-called “independence” since that time - she learned after that she not only doesn’t need the support of conservatives to keep her Senate seat, but she doesn’t need the support of the Republican Party at all.
Thats a real shame.
