They need to explain why this “climate change” stops at the Canadian border. Does it have respect for the law? Is it against illegal border crossing?

Great being able now to put a face on climate change. I also put a clown face on Governor Garvin for trying to tell us that the fires in California are due to climate change. Mule.

Everybody wants to be Mr. Climate Change 2020.

Here’s another. No surprise, the Multnomah County DA isn’t helping matters:

“Police said they seized the Molotov cocktail as evidence.

“Lopez was booked in the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of reckless burning and second-degree disorderly conduct. He was released and arrested again Monday morning for allegedly starting six more small fires.

That’s a pretty sophisticated security camera. Never saw one that followed moving objects before. But I’m not up to date on these things.

Fires will happen in the west. It is a part of the natural cycle and there are even plants and trees that are dependent on fires.

The only reasonable solution is to do controlled burns every few years (like Native Americans did) to prevent a catastrophic build-up of ground fuels and thin forest to promote forest health and allow the forest to better withstand fires. We have to learn to live with fire and people have to understand that we can have a “little smoke” today with a low-intensity controlled burn to prevent catastrophic fires and horrible smoke tomorrow.

This strategy won’t prevent all fires, but it would great mitigate the number of catastrophic fires AND make the environment more healthy because fire is a natural part of the environment in the West. The only thing that is unnatural is that we have tried to remove fire from the environment.

We have to change the way we look at managing public lands or this cycle will simply continue. We could reduce the intensity of these fires through proper management. You will never eliminate fires completely, but how/why we cannot seem to get this right after years is very frustrating.

like Native Americans did— series?

they did controlled burns? or did they set fields on fire to spook a herd of buffalo off a cliff to harvest some food and hides?

They routinely burned off the plains in the west for fire risk mitigation, crops, and hunting.

Yes, they did. They understood fire and worked to lessen the risk to themselves. They did not have cars to run from fires nor did they have aircraft and fire engines to put fires out.

When you live out here you understand. When you have 20 year old sage brush that is 4-8’ tall you are going to have big flame lengths and violent fire. When you have younger sage and grasses you will not have violent fire. The history of tribes here all reference fire as the primary tool they used to control their own environment.

Here is a short video on how the “lack of fire” has created “more trees” and more violent fire.
