The super bowl will be the highest rated tv show and NFL playoffs and prime time games will fill half the spots in the top 30 shows off the year.
You watch: major league sports will have to fight over a narrow audience share. Salaries will plummet. Advertisers will change. But the leagues will expect—and have every reason to believe—that universities will continue to provide them with prospects.

I’m in the same place. A few years back I stopped watching because of the Kaepernick controversy, but at that time mostly I was annoyed at the NFL. Eventually I started watching gain.
This year I’m not annoyed at all. I’m just totally uninterested.
I’m surprised they don’t call it “The Nation’s Capital Football Team”, since Washington owned slaves.

Beautiful area. Spent many a great day in November on Lake Lilli myself chasing Crappies at the confluence of the Shepaug and Housy.
Something I don’t watch.
Uninterested and mentally exhausted, is how I feel. I just sent a lengthy email to the Mavericks beat writer, whom I've corresponded with in the past.
My basic message was: conversations - ok, lectures - not ok. All we're getting is lectures brimming with hypocrisy. No mention of continuing BLM violence, their silence means it's ok to them.
I've been a Buffalo Bills fan for just a few years less. My Dad took me to games at the 'Rockpile. He bought a six pack from a neighborhood store as we parked in the street and walked to the stadium. Cried when they lost to the Chiefs and missed the first Super Bowl (but deep down happy - they would be 0-5 if they won their 3rd championship)
But they are dead to me now. I don't know who they are playing, or home or away.

The CBS and FOX pre-game shows coordinated a Lisa Keys memorial video (at :36 past the hour on both pre-game shows) so that football fans can’t avoid it. (oh yes, we can)
For diehards with hot teams, I suggest listening on radio rather than TV until they get the message.
And, be advised, opening week will be extra heavy handed. We heard reports that we’d see all sorts of crap on the opening Thursday nite game, whereas the advertised endzone messaging was barely visible.
Goodell and the NFL are trying to have it both ways by appeasing their employees without offending their customers.
Baseball opened with a SJ splash, but backed off on day 2. The NBA has not backed off and has earned crappy ratings despite no competition with excellent competitive games.
Not gonna work.
Don’t lecture me. Don’t preach to me during sports. We watch to get away from trouble and strife.
Yes, I don’t have a clue what it’s like to grow up black, but I also don’t give a rats assets about skin color. It’s meaningless. I’ve never discriminated because of skin color and would be embarrassed to do so. Me and 300 million others.
This is not a racist country. We’ve elected —and RE-elected— a black president. Our top celebrities are black. Biden admitted last week when he said; “who would have ever thought to see every TV commercial featuring mixed raced couples ?”. The populous doesn’t care about skin color. We do care about character.
If there’s turmoil, violence, rioting in black areas, it’s because the population there have created it. We didn’t. I personally look to fatherless families with little or no respect for the rule of law. It’s not exclusively a black issue, but more prominent there for that reason.
Rant over. Flaming can begin.
My sediments exactly. No NFL, NBA, NASCAR or any other sport that highlights the racism going on in our great country.
I’ll stick to Roller Derby . . . it kinda’ makes sense . . . sorta’.

This diehard fan will not give $.01 to the NFL, even through radio broadcast licensing fees.
And after the BLM crowd loots the corporate suites, the NFL commissioner will find the proper response to replace cheerleaders with the cast from cuties. Just to show how progressive they are now, stepping away from old fashioned thinking like punishing looters and pedophiles.
I cheated and watched the first 5 minutes of the FOX pregame show. It was uninspiring.
Time for a Sunday afternoon nap.

A good autumn activity. I just put my sauerbraten in the frig for Oktoberfest next NFL Sunday. Good German beer, wurst, sauerbraten, sauerkraut, rotkohl and knodel with good friends next NFL Sunday, but no football on TV.
