The media quickly and eagerly dubbed Rittenhouse as a vigilante, which he was. A "vigilante" is defined as someone who takes the law into his own hands in response to a real or perceived failure of official law enforcement to do its job. Fair enough.
But aren't all of the BLM and Antifa rioters - THOUSANDS of them nationwide - "vigilantes" as well, responding to what THEY perceive as a failure of both law enforcement and the justice system? They regard their own violent behavior as being remedial in some way, and as imposing some sort of "justice" which the system has purportedly failed to do.
But the media NEVER refer to them as vigilantes, because in their minds only right-wingers can ever be vigilantes. This is one more way in which the media distort reality into a perspective favoring the left. A small number of right-wingers, fighting mob violence, are thus portrayed as the real and only outlaws, the only serious threat to law and order, while the ongoing violence of thousands on the left - leaving entire neighborhoods in ruins - is either minimized or excused.

Precisely right. And there are millions of Americans thinking along the lines of what you just stated. It’s just a matter of tipping points and leverage and critical mass and that sort of thing.
