Yep, I always try a use a local service center but if Pep Boys is always a better deal with better service than Goodyear, that’s a problem. :)
My wife’s co-worker had her daughter call her from a Pep Boys a couple of years back and she was in tears. Her car was making a horrible noise squealing when she applied the brakes. Pep boys had decided it was going to need new brakes, new rotors, axles and a bunch of other items, around $800.
My wife called me while her co-worker was on the phone with the daughter and they were in a panic, neither had that kind of money to spend and my wife had the co-workers daughter describe what the car was doing to me and I said, you need new brakes and possibly rotors but that other is crap and a ripoff. Drive it home and go to this local mechanic, sure enough new front brakes was all she needed, around $110 in this area.
