Why does a mayors wife need a staff at all, complete with a $70,000 a year videographer? Good question, but apparently thats the current setup in New York City, which should surprise no one.
The Daily Mail has released some details on Chirlane McCrays setup and its pretty astonishing. Not only does she have 14 people on her staff, the taxpayers are on the hook for about $2,000,000 as a result.
Bill de Blasios unelected wife has been branded a disgrace for having a staff of 14 costing New York City $2 million, including a $70,000 videographer who filmed her baking cookies while crime soars amid NYPD budget cuts, trash is left to pile up on the streets and 22,000 city workers face job losses.
Chirlane McCray, who is mulling a run for Brooklyn borough president, enjoys a core team of eight full-time staff who cost the city a combined $1.1 million in annual salaries, according to her office.
Sources at the Mayors Office told The City the mayors wife also has at least another six staff who do not feature on the official roster, taking her total workforce to 14 with a hefty price tag of $2 million.
If you want to know what the communism that de Blasio loves so much looks like, this is it. Those in power enjoy all the perks with none of the cost. Meanwhile, blue collar workers are facing layoffs because the budget of the city has been so badly mismanaged over the years. McCray has a videographer filming her escapades on the backs of the taxes paid by the guy picking up the trash. You couldnt get a more stark example of how things operate in most communist nations.
Lets also not forget the fact that de Blasio cut the NYPD budget by $1,000,000,000. Crime has soared, and the once safest big city in the world is looking more and more like it did in the 70s and 80s. But instead of trying to keep people safe, de Blasio would rather take cops off the street so his wife can have someone film her baking cookies. Yes, thats actually a thing that happened. Youd think before cutting police officers from the force or sending city workers home, that making cuts to the staff of an unelected spouse would make more sense.
Meanwhile, de Blasio continues to keep his foot on the neck of his city, refusing to allow many businesses to open as more and more close their doors for good. The citys financial outlook is bleak and its future prospects are even bleaker.
But none of that matters when those in power have everything they need. They wont pay the price of bad, non-science based policed. Theyll still have their personal assistants, big salaries, and pensions. Its the normal people that suffer.
