By law they have to submit the election results by December 8 this year.
AND-—YOUR MAIL IN BALLOT this year in Colorado has a hole in the ENVELOPE that shows a color underneath:
RED is a Republican registered voter
Blue is a Democrat registered voter
Orange is an Independent registered voter.
So much for a silent or anonymous ballot.
I agree with most of what you say, but there is NO WAY Pelosi is going to get to play President if the states fail to certify.
States that don’t certify on time won’t be included in the electoral count. If we allow any state to hold up a Presidential election we would never have one.
So a likely scenario is Trump wins on election night, a liberal state tries to hold the electoral process hostage, their votes are simply not tallied, and Trump still has more than 270 electoral votes.

What are we going to do if they miss the December 8 deadline? Tell New York or California “Sorry, you missed the deadline. Don’t bother submitting your results because we won’t count them if you do.”?
Nope, we’ll bend over backwards for them until maybe February or March roll around. Meanwhile, enjoy President Pelosi passing all communist agenda.
Not counting a state’s vote, even though it was THEIR doing that fouled up the election, just won’t happen. Who would have the ability and guts to tell a state “You missed the deadline, so we aren’t counting your EVs”? It would go straight to the Supreme Court. And with Roberts at the helm there, what would the outcome be?
I think we are in deep uncharted territory here.
