In this scenario the have to be Crazy Bernie or the election would be effectively over. The Bernie Bots would go apoplectic if the clear second-place winner were not selected. It seems obvious the people pulling the strings for the puppet known as Joe Biden want Dementia Joe so THEY will behind the scenes be the president.
Crazy Bernie is an unknown quantity were he to actually become president.
He is likely to assert himself as the true believer he is and not be a malleable puppet to be easily controlled.
That is what the Dems have been afraid of with Bernie and that remains the power behind the scene’s primary concern.
The dems are in a rock and a hard place situation. It’ll be interesting as hell to see this all play out.
I actually have the opposite opinion.
I think a year ago the powers that be in the Democratic Party looked at the unemployment numbers and the GDP and said “We’re screwed, let’s not waste a good candidate this cycle.”
My observation has been that Dems tend to push one guy to the front and let a couple of others run too just to make it look like it’s on the up and up. This time they just figured eh whatever, and the result was a gigantic field of candidates.
In addition if you run and loose, you’re done. I believe Adlai Stevenson is the only one to have been nominated after loosing. (I’m not counting Nixon because, well let me ask you, who really won the 1960 election?)
I agree that Democrats have to ride it out with Biden, but I think it’s so they can point the fingers away from themselves and at him when he looses.
