A brave pollster should ask the question:

If a Presidential candidate declines to participate in a debate, would you:

• still vote for that candidate anyway?
• have cause to rethink your vote for that candidate?
• be more likely to vote for a candidate willing to debate?
• vote for the candidate that wants to debate?

Many people look at the debates as a test of how well a President can stand up to foreign leaders, believing that candidates who prefer to avoid debates would not fare well in stressful foreign negotiations with unfriendly leaders.

Let's find out how much weight the voters really put on Presidential debates.
