At 3 p.m., Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington told reporters the State Patrol knew a group planned to tear down the Columbus statue.
At 5 p.m., it happened. State Patrol gave no resistance despite advance warning.
By 7 p.m., the statue is gone.

Columbus doesn't have much to do with Minnesota and we don't have a very big Italian population who would be his natural lobby. There was some talk of replacing him with a more specifically Minnesotan figure like Fr. Louis Hennepin or even a representation of a Voyageur, but Prince has more cachet.

As if “the entire contemporary music scene in the Twin Cities” means squat.
And Columbus DID found America (well, he’s credited with it, at least), and the last time I looked Minnesota was part of America (though I’m not so sure about Minneapolis these days - I think it was co-opted by some communist country).
The idea that we have to allow revolutionaries to destroy the nation in the name of free speech, a free speech they and their overloads don’t allow is IMHO incorrect. Rather we should stamp out the rebellion, eliminate their communist masters, destroy their communist sympathizers and propagandists, and send any survivors to the communist paradise they so richly deserve.

By “eliminate”, “destroy”, and “send to...paradise..”, do mean just kill them for being communists?
Dumb idea. The only time you can kill them is in self defense. If they actually try to physically harm you or your family - then death is the only remedy. Otherwise, you have to fight with words, ideas and voting.
If you start killing people because of their ideology - then you have become the tyrant.

Toppling statues cannot change history or destroy the truth! These liberals have been trying to slander Christopher Columbus for years. He landed in the new world and recorded it. He was the first one to do that. Others may have reached it but did not know the significance of what they had done. Why are liberals so bent on destroying Columbus’s memory?

I’m not talking about physical war to prevent the Communist Chinese from taking over Pacific waterways or other US strategic interests. I’m not even talking about Chinese industrial espionage, or biological or digital warfare. If there’s a fight, I’m 100% in and I’ll gladly die fighting.
I’m not talking about China - the true enemy is our own government which will amass too much power if our children and grandchildren turn their backs on the Founding Principles, as embodied in the Constitution.
I’m talking about a war of ideas that will determine whether our grandchildren even have the will to fight. The battleground is their young minds, and we can’t fight it for them.
Too many of them have already been brainwashed into disrespecting the Founders as racists, dismissing the importance of Individual Liberty, and foolishly accepting the Democrats’ fake Social Justice agenda at face value.
Too many believe Individual Liberty was just the Founders’ justification for letting white people keep their wealth and privilege. Too many believe the government should be empowered to redistribute property, wealth and privilege.
The Constitution, and the Founding Principals of Individual Liberty and Limited Government stand in the way of this fake Social Justice agenda - and the Progressives’ true agenda - which is simply a lust for power and a desire to have control over all things.
We can’t fight this for them - we can only hope something frightens them enough to recognize the Social Justice Movement for what it really is: a Trojan Horse designed to seduce us into giving up our freedom and empowering our true enemy: government tyranny.

Seems like a lot of people misunderstood my post!
I’m not saying older people should wash their hands of it and say “not my problem - I’ll be dead and gone”. We should keep fighting until our dying breath.
But the younger generation does need to start thinking of unchecked government authority as THEIR problem - they need to see the Constitution as something that protects THEM.
Many of them don’t feel that way - they are young and idealistic and want to empower the government to make social reforms. They think that dusty old Constitution and we old farts are just obstacles that get in the way of those changes.
I think they need to start picturing what the world will be like when my generation of conservatives is dead and gone.
Following the ratification of the Constitution, Benjamin Franklin said:
“You have a Republic, if you can keep it.”
He was really talking to future generations when he said that.
