Ive said since the beginning - the DOJ is the political brain and nerve center of the executive branch. It controls investigations and prosecutions across the entire Federal government. Its power, and potential for corruption is immense.
All Presidents of the modern era have known this. Thats why its absolutely necessary to have a loyal ally as AG. JFK appointed his own brother - on the insistence of his Father Joe. Reagan had his old friend Ed Meese. Clinton had the bulldog Reno. Obama had fellow-traveller Holder and Lynch. He even made sure they were black, for extra security.
Thats why Trumps choice of Sessions was such a spectacular mistake. It nearly destroyed his Presidency.
Yet, nobody is going to jail years later.
I don’t see any democrap prosecutions. Seems there still is no rule of law established.
Barr is doing a terrible job.
Oh really?
Only works if obama, clintons etc are jailed.
Short of some indictments that are much needed of those “above the law”-————————crickets.....................
Really? Where’s the indictments?
I wonder if today’s riots and some in the past are caused in part by a failure of the DOJ to uphold the rule of law over the past years? Considering the failure to charge any Antifa, BLM, or any of the demonrats involved in the plot to overthrow our elected government with the crimes they have committed, is it possible that many today believe that the rule of law no longer exists?
While A.G. Barr felt it was his job to protect the reputations of the FBI and the DOJ, his failure to hold certain violators accountable is causing a lot of mistrust of our legal system.
I am not making excuses for all rioters but simply pointing out a belief in certain areas that all in our government are corrupt and protecting themselves, this includes law enforcement at the local level.
Scalia certainly thought so.If you dont prosecute the perpetrators, and if you dont prosecute the media for providing air cover for the perps, you might as well just hang it up.But you know what is really "antithetical to the preservation of a free and just society? It is the media. Which is actually a cabal of journalists united under the aegis of the AP and all other wire services. These create virtual meetings of all major journalism - and as Adam Smiths dictum put it,
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. The conspiracy against the public lies in the promotion of crisis mentality, along with the promotion of politicians who go along and get along with the crisis mentality of journalism. Crisis makes journalism seem important - and crisis makes government seem important. Thus the synergy between journalism and the Democrat Party. Both promote big government - and
Society in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one. — Thomas Paine, Common Sense (1776)
