I’ve done it many times myself. You can learn a lot when you are able to see the bones of the house. You can tell good design from bad, good builders from sloppy builders, and good materials from bad ones. You can see problems before they happen, and tell if the home will be there for a hundred years or start to fall apart in just a few years.
