There was no excuse for trying to detain him without calling the police. The younger McMichael was trapped once Arbery attacked him holding the shotgun. He had to maintain control of the shotgun or potentially be shot by Arbery if he wrested it away. In the stress of the situation, might not have realized his finger was on the trigger. Once they were fighting for the shotgun, it turned into a REAL mess. I am not making excuses.
Just pointing out Arbery was up to no good in that house. Arbery contributed to his own death. They will probably go to jail for manslaughter.

Someone HAD called the police. Was it the homeowner who’s security camera captured the trespass of the neighboring property?
Was it the neighbor who pursued the suspect and used his phone to video him fleeing down the street?
Did the family with the weapon and truck pass the suspect on the road or were they down the street when they stopped to ask him some questions upon his arrival?
Did the family with the weapon grab it and race out of their home or did they have it in the vehicle already?
Did the videographer commit any crime? If so, what?
