Emphasis is mine, Joe Biden's stealth jab that Trump presidency is 'illegitimate', because Hillary supposedly won the popular vote. (! I personally dispute and not believe that claim.) ===> "The way states voted" ???? This is all about electoral college, isn't it? Biden (and Hillary) DID say not to waste the current crisis to remake America.

Other FReepers might find Biden's assertion that Hillary as potus would have handled Covid-19 pandemic better as more salient.

The media would hardly be covering the pandemic if Clinton had won. They would still be calling it an outbreak and there would be no hoarding like now. Big difference in how they would be covering it. It’s all about media cover. The media would provide all the cover democrats need to skate through it.

The socialist/globalists control the Democratic Party. They loathe the American nation and its heritage. It would appear that they have a bold plan to elect this demented, creepy old man as President. People will soon lose faith in national institutions and it would make them more amenable to world governance.

Hillary did not win a majority of the vote. She won 48.02 percent of the vote.

A non-majority plurality.

We can divide the democracies into two groups: those that directly elect their head of government (e.g., France) and those that indirectly elect their head of government (e.g., the U.K.).

With our Electoral College, we’re sort of in the second group. (Yet, because of our “two-party” system, we could be said to be in a category of our own.) Other examples of indirect election:

Boris Johnson, UK - 42% of the popular vote (a plurality)
Justin Trudeau, Canada - 33% of the popular vote (not a plurality)
Jacinda Ardern, NZ - 34% of the popular vote (not a plurality)
Angela Merkel, Germany - 33% of the popular vote (a plurality)

In the countries that directly elect their head of government or head of state, almost all large countries have run-elections when nobody wins a majority.

France - run-off
Brazil - run-off
Russia - run-off
Poland - run-off
Mexico - not a run-off

Ireland, Australia and now Maine are interesting in that they have instant-run. You indicate your preferences when you vote, first, second, etc.

For example, let’s say in 2016, I marked 1st choice - Gary Johnson, 2nd choice - Donald Trump, 3rd choice - none. Then, when Johnson got eliminated for having no chance of winning, his votes would be re-allocated according to whether his supporters indicated Trump, Hillary or none as their second choice.
