Kid had psoriasis, an autoimmune disease in which young onset patients tend to be more severe and more likely to have additional disorders of excessive inflammation. And one sometimes treated systemically with agents suppressing the immune system. It would be interesting to know how severe was his psoriasis and what treatment hed been receiving for it. It may be that instead of being a sad exception to the young and healthy do well rule of thumb that hes a clue to another risk factor.
