The CCP did not "quarantine" Wuhan because of fears that the Wuhan virus was a zombie apocalypse in the making. No, they shut it down to hide the fact that yet another respiratory virus was on the loose from their 3rd world food/hygiene practices and their 3rd world health care system couldn't handle it.

It was, and still is (with blaming the US Army) an attempt to "save face." They desperately want to be seen as a global super power that is at least as strong as the U.S., among many other things, are also trying to replace the dollar as the world's currency with theirs.

You don't destroy scientific/medical evidence and silence those people if your fear THE bug is now on the loose.

It's always been about protecting their carefully cultivated image and related damage control.
