You can rest easy!

He was parked near the White House, and his car was locked with the briefcase hidden under a coat, but some guy walked up and popped the locks and snatched the laptop. It took the thief 17 seconds.

His alarm went off saying his car had been broken into and he went right out, but his laptop was gone. The Secret Service had video showing the theft, it looked like a targeted theft, but they don’t really know for sure.

On the good side, his laptop was not only encrypted and backed up (he had a 2013 Mac Pro Laptop) but had countermeasures and security on it that he had installed by professional law enforcement people. They worked, and the same high profile experts he consulted could tell when doing a post-mortem that someone tried twice to get into it and failed, and dumped it a few blocks from the White House. He also had GPS localization features running, and they found it quickly.

His data was safe and the security and data integrity was not breached.

He doesn’t know if it was an intentional effort to steal what he had on the laptop, but I admit, I would be suspicious. I assume he was at the White House because the Secret Service was involved in the immediate follow-up, but that is speculation on my part.

If he was in the White House, it was an appointment. If it was an appointment, someone could have had access to it and tipped someone on the Left off, who definitely are not reluctant to break the law to forward their goals.

Where did you get this info? I just looked up a article that I got more information than the initial story provided, but nothing as specific as what you've posted.
