I think I played this song at least 10 times today.
I discovered this because I am building a playlist of songs that were popular a half century ago. I intend to carry this through for the rest of my life. The playlist is called "50 Years".
I was born in 1962 so I only started remembering music around the year 1970 but back then, it was Partridge Family, Archies, that type of stuff, because I was only 7 years old, you know.
But this song by King Crimson is EPIC. Turns out that the late Greg Lake did vocals. It's a 10+ minute masterpiece. Said to be the first real "prog-rock" album.
Anyhow, it's great to discover music a half century after it came out. The album art is ugly but I'll post a lion down below, which is pretty cool.
Also known as the Trump Impeachment.
Great tune - part of my default rotation for eons.
Yep. I love King Crimson.
Now you should check out all the covers of the song by others that are on youtube. There’s a group of 12-year olds that cover it as an instrumental. The Claypool-Lennon Delirium do a good, live cover. The metal group Saxon has its own cover. The original line-up for ASIA, featuring King Crimson alum John Wetton, do a fine live cover. I think there’s even a cover played on ukele—and covers of songs played on ukelele is its own youtube rabbit-hole!
Another fun youtube rabbit-hole is watching covers of the AC/DC song “Thunderstruck.”
Really nice. I pulled it up on Spotify (expanded & remastered).
I appreciate ELP and Moody Blues so much better now than I did in the 70’s. In fact I was going to post a link to Karn Evil but my aging brain was looking for it under the Moody Blues.
Check out “Tresspass” by Genesis from 1970, as well, (Phil Collins had yet to join the band), but it’s still a great album (especially ‘The Knife’)
That's probaby what your wife said too!
Anyway, I am really liking my "50 Year" playlist. Already up to 124 songs and it's only Jan 25, 2020. I am using the book below as a reference. Any song that gets into the Hot 100 charts I will listen to and if I like it, it makes my playlist. I also listen to the albums they were from and add those songs as well if I deem them worthy.
Over time, I will drop songs off the playlist in order to keep it truly a "50 year" listing. So by 2023, I'll have all mostly 1973 songs in there.
Listen to “The Story in Your Eyes” and realize just what a fantastic guitar player Justin Hayward is, and yet he’s very rarely mentioned amongst the great guitarists.
ig have to say back in the day there was smoke filled rooms a plenty hangin out listening to Crimson...
Good stuff.
This is one by them called Indiscipline. This is live, with three drummers. For non-drummers, be patient and make it through the beginning with the three drummers.

Thanks, I’m going to check all these recommended tunes out later - got to go see a movie with the wife. But no matter how much you think you know music, there is always more to discover!
Same here. I do have the LP but haven’t owned a working turntable in over a quarter century.
Now play the rest of the album...then go on a Crimson discovery tour. Im a fan of the earlier stuff: Red, Starless and Bible Black, Islands, In the Wake of Poseidon
Used to listen to that album when it first came out ... 1969 ish
